11/23 -- a pretty decent slate of games aside from just our battle with the Bruins of the Brazos:
Penn St vs. an Ohio State University -- This is the headliner. The way I see it, on a cosmic level, it's a battle of evil (PSU) vs. not exactly evil but certainly not good (aOSU). It's at the horseshoe and the Buckeyes will be ready for their hardest challenge thus far this year. aOSU's pass rush and defensive front, led by Chase Young, will give PSU fits. Both teams have some explosive playmakers at the skill positions. The Buckeyes will beat them up physically in the trenches, Woody Hayes style--especially when the Bucks are on D. aOSU with the win.
SMU vs. Navy -- This will be SMU's toughest match up other than Memphis. Navy also has the home field advantage. If Shane's magic comes alive SMU could win it. Otherwise...
OSU vs. WV -- WV's home field advantage isn't enough to overcome the Cowboys. Could be an interesting watch.
KU vs. ISU -- ISU dominates and overpowers the Jayhawks.
KSU vs. Texas Tech -- Watch for an upset here. Although, based on the new line posted above, I guess Tech winning would no longer be considered an upset. Tech is at home, it's cold, and strange things happen up on the South Plains in those conditions. Unless Tech's offense fails to hit on all (or most) cylinders, Tech should come alive and beat a somewhat better Wildcat team.
TCU vs. Oklahoma -- The Frogs will fight hard, and their coach will match Riley, but they can't overcome OU. Not this time.
aTm vs. Georgia -- The Bulldogs have too much for aTm to handle, on both sides of the ball. GA by a few TDs. Mond should struggle against a competent Georgia D.
BC vs. Notre Dame -- A battle of the Catholic schools. ND has way too much talent, and good enough coaching to best BC at South Bend.
Michigan vs. Indiana -- Michigan uses this as a warm up game for the big rivalry vs. aOSU coming up. Michigan sometimes starts slow, but they'll pour it on by the 2nd half and take control.
Purdue vs. Wisconsin -- Mighty Wisconsin smashes the Boilermakers like they did teams early in the year.
Illinois vs. Iowa -- This is an interesting one. You have Iowa, with one of the nation's best defenses but very little O. And you have upstart Illinois, who is surprising everyone and getting the occasional upset. If Illinois can hold Iowa's anemic offense in check (not that hard to do), then it could come down to the wire.
USC vs. UCLA -- This is always a fun game to watch. The cross-city rivalry produces some good tv moments. USC is actually a pretty good team. Maybe not good enough to save Helton's job, even if they win out including a bowl, but still pretty good. UCLA is mediocre, but not terrible. The Bruins have made much progress this year, and appear to be slowly crawling out of the dumpster. Still, they're no match for USC. Trojans by a TD or two.
Arkansas vs. LSU -- Nothing I write can compare to this video of what to expect. Take a look:
Cal. vs. Stanford -- The "Big Game". Cal's pass rush and D front 7 will keep Stanford's O in check. Look for a Cal win today folks.
Oregon vs. ASU -- Oregon takes on a decent ASU team. I don't see ASU toppling the Ducks today.
Oregon St. vs. Washington St. -- The embattled band of pirates raids a team they can, and will, beat. Leach makes some weird comments in the post game interview (real bold prediction on that part, I know...)
Nebraska v. Maryland -- Nebraska finally finds a Big 10 team they can beat up on.
San Diego St. vs. Hawaii -- The Aztecs cross the sea to the empty confines of Aloha Stadium. The pretty-decent Bows welcome them with 300+ yards by Hawaii QB McDonald.
