Anyone see the end of the 1st half of ND-USC. ND is playing Williams masterfully, so far. Three interceptions. 24-6.

A odd play at the end of a half. With about 14 seconds left, ND sacks Williams, he fumbles, but USC recovers. USC rushes to the line of scrimmage, attempting to spike the ball, which they do but with a clock reading 0:00. However, anticipating that the officials are going to call an offsides penalty against Notre Dame because their players aren’t rushing to the line of scrimmage,, their coach calls a time out at the 0:02 mark. USC subsequently kicks the field goal, about 50 yards.

My question: given that USC had to rush to the line of scrimmage to attempt to spike the ball, and they didn’t get it done before 0:00, why should the Defense even be liable for an offsides penalty?

So I go away for 20 minutes. Come back, and it’s KSU 31-21 over Tech…

Tech’s O will have to dig them out.
