OSU 31
TCU 24

around four minutes left in the game. Nice scramble by Sanders. OSU with the ball in Frog territory.

Hubbard gashes TCU for another first down. Hubbard has been tearing it up all day. Now TCU tightens you their D. Big third down coming up. Hubbard runs it into a long FG range. FG attempt coming up. FG is good.

OSU 34
TCU 24

around two minutes left in the game.

GA completes pass despite good rush to make first down and essentially ice the game. Fla out of timeouts with 2:20 left in game

Utah now up 33-21. UW with the ball 4:32 left in game. UW dropping catchable balls. Doesn’t look good.

Dogs with two fourth and long conversions this drive. UW is still alive—barely. Big UW TE carries a Ute over the first down line on third down. I’ve noticed that PAC 12 teams, in general, tend to put their TEs to good use.

First and goal Huskies. Sacked. Second and goal. Incomplete. Third and goal. Down to the three yard line in a RB pass. Fourth and goal. TD Dogs! Bullet throw by Eason. One minute left. Onside kick coming up.

Utah 33
Washington 28

Utah recovers the onside kick. Da Youts win.

thoughts—Utah’s defense is very fast and doesn’t miss many tackles. Eason, as usual, is a very good drop back pro style QB for UW, and had decent success today. UW’s D gave up some big plays. Good game.

Leinhert is being interviewed now in the pregame for USC vs Oregon. He said the only game people want to talk about with him is the UT over USC National Championship game. Leinhert said there are so many Texas Longhorns fans in Southern California that he can never get away from them.

Fumble and dropped pass.... SMU gonna choke in the cold.
Plus Memphis is way more athletic and big team speed advantage.
Could be a blowout.

In the only other game that I paid much attention to Memphis, they looked to have a bit higher caliber of athlete than is usually found in that conference. Plus their DL seemed tough.

Memphis almost TD on a long pass. 3rd and goal now. Goal line stand SMU! Stuffed them on second down. Dropped pass on third down. Memphis goes for it on fourth down. Incomplete! Nice goalline D by the Ponies.

Fortunately, Memphis’s WRs have a case of the drops early on.

SMU dodges a bullet.

Shane works it out from deep in SMU territory. Then a dangerous near pick six on a screen. Another self-fired bullet dodged.

Wow. Long pass Shane on a deep out/corner pattern. SMU in Memphis territory.

TD SMU! Their stud TE takes a pass in the flats and runs through a would be tackler at the goalline.

SMU 7
Memphis 0

Some very early thoughts: Memphis probably has a stronger and more athletically talented team overall. But I don’t think they’ve seen an offense or QB like this before. If SMU’s OL can give Shane time to throw, the Ponies should win this one. The errors are troubling though, as SMU has already dodged a few bullets.

Watching Shane Buechle and SMU.

He’s doing very well. And I’m happy for him. Always like Shane.

not saying I’d rather him over Sam, but I better understand the move. He’s really good and needs to be starting Div 1. Glad it’s not boomer or aggy ... or mackerel snapper ... lessee USC .... Miami.

never was a SMU fan, but they had a guy for whom a big award is named ... hope he gets it.
