OTHER GAMES

Don't know if anyone here watched Cougar High vs UTSA...VERY entertaining game. Game went to 3 OT. UH won by 2. Coug Hi is FAST. UTSA is not a team to sleep on. Jeff Traylor is a good coach & has his kids ready. They appear to be under-talented / overachievers.

I couldn't find it in my program guide and I have a sports package. Definitely won't be an easy game.

I see where UH will be in Lubbock this coming weekend. Won’t hurt my feelings one iota if the Coogs rip the Raiders a new one.

Watching Clemson/Georgia tech
34-10 Clemson in the 4th.
But Clemson doesn't look unbeatable at all for a fourth ranked team. This was close most of the way.
Klubnik has just come on the field for the first time.First thro incomplete. 2nd throw first down completion
Would much rather have Klubnik than Malik Murphy.
First td pass for klubnik. He is a natural and a winner.

Looks like Shough will be out. Might still e out Vs Us. Coogs could very well win. Don't know anything about the Tech backup QB.

It wasn't an either Klubnik or Murphy option. We were either getting QE or Klubnik. After QE de committed , Herman didn't push hard for Klubnik.

The Coogs' QB is impressive with his run/pass abilities. He's an upperclassman (maybe a Senior), and he bailed out the Cougars vs. UTSA.

That diving somersault into the endzone was the highlight play of the day in college football. They're pretty good.

It's my understanding that Murphy (5 star at the time) committed quickly or early so Klubnik went somewhere else.
He would have easily made at least 2nd team or beaten out QE for first team.
I am just saying I am a big believer in Klubnik over our present QBs.
But klubnik made his choice.
Se la vie

Herman was recruiting them both. When QE committed he gave Murphy the air. After QE de committed, Murphy is the one that reached out to UT. Murphy was either a 4 or 5* depending on what service it was.
All things equal I'll stick with Ewers. Klubnik is on a better team that has a shaky returning. starter. We have an OL still a work in progress. A defense with questions once we get past the DL.
Both should have nice college careers.

I watched both in high school and QE was by far the one with more upside, IMO. It is imperative that MM get some playing time. Card worries me when his name is called.

Nebraska has to be the most pitiful currently of the once great schools (Texas will join them if we have another stinker season like last year).

You'd think Frost needs 7-8 wins this year to avoid the boot, and by looks of it little chance of that. He's now snakebit, and afraid of losing to the point that they did a low percentage onsides kick in the Northwestern game despite having the lead and momentum. Shows that he's lost so many times by such collapses that he has no confidence in his team or himself not to lose, so he took a foolish gamble.

Week 2

Friday 9/9

Louisville at UCF - mid-majors matchup with a future Big 12 team

Boise St at New Mexico

Saturday 9/10

We're the headliner game vs Alabama, but there's not so many other good games out there, like there was last week. It's a fairly "blah" week except for our game and Baylor, and a few others.

#9 Baylor at #21 BYU - another holy war. Baylor has the horses, but I don't like playing in Provo, especially early in the season.

Tarteton at TCU - two purple teams about 50 miles from each other. Very different school cultures. C'mon TCU--what chicken poop scheduling.

Arizona State at Okla State - the Pokes are good, but they come dangerously close to finding ways to blow a game.

Kent State at OU - more scheduling cowardice.

Kansas at WV - WV's nasty D-front will likely crush the Jayhawks

#25 Houston at Texas Tech - UH has a playmaker at QB. Don't know what to make of Tech yet.

App State at aTm

Missouri at KSU - KSU

Ark State at #3 aOSU - slaughter in the Horseshoe

Southern Miss at #15 Miami - not a gimme game for Manny

South Carolina at #16 Arkansas - pork over chicken

#23 Wake Forest at Vanderbilt - This Wake Forest program has been solid over the past several seasons with good QB play and good coaching.

Ohio at Penn State

UNC at Ga State

UTSA at Army - nice matchup

Charleston So at #18 NC State

#24 Tennessee at #17 Pittsburgh - this could be a good one. Pitt came back for an exciting win vs. WV in the backyard brawl last week. Pitt has another good QB (but not as good as Pickett), and everybody's favorite coach.

Samford at Georgia - please

Akron at Mich St

UVA at U of I

#20 Kentucky at #12 Florida - this could be a good one. Contrasting styles. Florida with a nice win over Utah last week. Keep an eye on this one.

Central Ark at Ole Miss - C'mon Lane

Hawaii at #4 Michigan - no chance for 'Da Bows at Michigan, not even in early September. Not even if Michigan fumbles multiple times.

#10 USC at Stanford - another one to keep an eye on

Miss St at Arizona - Miss State all the way here

a&m has Tarlton on their schedule Nov 22, 2025. Stephenville JV was booked that weekend.

My alma mater (USAFA) currently playing Colorado. Air Force can chew up a lot of yardage on the ground - and they can even throw the football when they want to. I look for Falcons to win this one.

Pitt is up 10-0 on Tennessee. QB Slovis looks good again for Pitt.

And, of course, we witness coaching brilliance any time Pitt plays.
:pitt:

4th and 6 from opposing 40, Appy goes for it and QB misses a wide open guy 10 yards downfield to throw to a double covered guy on a flag route. Incomplete.

Aggy ball now with 4 minutes left and on 1st down, Appy sacks Aggy! Farmers already punting and Appy has ball with 3:25 until the half. A&M only has like 120 yards of offense.
