OTHER GAMES

The PAC 12 is wide open for the taking. Nobody has the inside track. And probably nobody makes the playoffs.

Stanford has one heck of a TE.
UO has the inside track until they lose. Is ASU on top of the South?

TE might be the one Texas lost to Stanford because no one on the staff ever heard of the Plan II track at Texas.

Colby Parkinson is the TE. He’s from Simi Valley, CA. He’ll be in the League.

Stanford recently beat us on the recruitment of OL Braxton Bragg. They’re tough to recruit against for the top players with very high level academics. They offer the academics of a Rice, Duke, or an Ivy League school with good (but not that good) football. I was going to say that must have been Charlie’s staff that never heard of Plan 2, but Parkinson was a 2017 recruit (if that story was about this player at all).

Marvin Mimms, all-everything WR from Frisco Lone Star (#1 5A Div I after beating Highland Park a couple of weeks ago) ) waited and waited and jumped when the Stanford offer came in. At least he didn't go aggy, ou, aOSU or $EC. He will be in the NFL after 3 seasons at Stanford.

No one is aware of any ties to Stanford, and if you listen to him one would expect he will do fine at Stanford. What is strange is the recruiting strength the PAC-12 in general and Utah specifically has with the Lone Star kids. There are 2 already playing for Utah; one already committed off this year's team, and 2 Utah coaches at their game last Thursday.

11/12

Today, it's hard to be too interested in other games, but there are some good ones on the schedule. Here's some thoughts:

Florida v. LSU--I've thought Florida was overrated all season, but they just keep on winning. This is the night that comes to an end. Look for the Bayou Bengals to win this one without much difficulty. LSU's offense should light them up. The home field advantage at night in Baton Rouge won't hurt either.

Penn St. v. Iowa--Look for a tough, brutal defensive slug fest here. I'm hoping Iowa wins, but I'll call this one a toss up.

Texas Tech v. Baylor--Baylor is the better overall team, but Tech remains very dangerous. Tech has some good coaching in place on both sides of the ball, but many key pieces of Tech's puzzle are still missing. I want Tech, but I think Baylor is the logical favorite here.

Iowa St. v. West Virginia--A battle for relevance in the middle of the Big 12 pack. ISU has disappointed thus far this year. WV has some real horses on their D front. This one is unpredictable for me.

Michigan St. v. Wisconsin--The Spartans take on Mighty Wisconsin. MSU is a tough and fundamentally sound team, but they'll be lucky if they score above the single digits on the Badgers. The Badger offense is potent. Wisconsin wins.

South Carolina v. Georgia--A big interstate rivalry and a possible upset. Georgia is much better across the board, but S. Carolina makes it close in a grudge match.

USC v. Notre Dame--As usual, USC has a lot of stockpiled talent that is not being put to good use. ND is playing much better and is the clear favorite. I'll pull for the Trojans.

Bama v. aTm--Another blow out by Alabama followed by another melt down by Aggie fans. Ags drop out of the Top 25 for good after this beat down. Tua and crew put up a high point total, and Mond and the ags impotent offense can't get it in gear for this match up.

Florida State v. Clemson--This isn't the Florida State from days of old. They're greatly outmatched here. Clemson is vulnerable and isn't playing as well as their lofty ranking might indicate, but an upset is unlikely today.

BYU v. South Florida--Poor Charlie keeps getting his head handed to him. Look for more of the same when a solid BYU team takes him on.

Washington State v. Arizona State--I'm hoping the Pirate gets the ship steered back in the right direction. ASU has surprised and looks pretty good. WSU with the upset.

Washington v. Arizona-- UW stays on track to challenge for the PAC 12 North champion, and takes down the Wildcats.

Hawaii v. Boise State-- Hawaii takes down an undefeated and ranked pretender in an upset. Go Bows!

Good list Chop. A few comments:

aOSU will be the winner here as one contender will turn into a pretender.

Agree, but an 8 point win against Rice and a 2 point win against ISU do not make for a juggernaut. The Tech QB Duffey seems to be getting better each week.

Bama v. aTm--Another blow out by Alabama followed by another melt down by Aggie fans. Ags drop out of the Top 25 for good after this beat down. Tua and crew put up a high point total, and Mond and the ags impotent offense can't get it in gear for this match up.
It could be a trap game, but Satan has not forgotten losing to aggy (and JFF). He might not lose to aggy again before he retires.

I think they photoshopped his head over Putin's

Looks like Coach Boom about to go to OT against UGA...less than 30 seconds left and tied at 17 with UGA at the 48...now at SC 38 with 13 seconds

Mighty Wisconsin is up 14-0 over Mich St. after a TD pass. This one could get out of hand quick. It’s a mismatch.

Like us, Mich St seems to like running kickoffs out of the end zone back to around the 10-15...

Wisconsin leads 17-0 at halftime.

Wisconsin’s D has pitched shutouts for 18 of the last 22 quarters. aOSU vs Wisconsin for the Big 10 title could be one for the ages.

And BYU up 10-0 over Charlie. Cougars with the ball. So Fla looking lethargic, as if they don’t really care—missing tackles, hands on the hips, heads hanging down. Shaking heads “no”.

Yeah, it has been alluded to on the game thread that we are still not where we should be because of Strong. Ha, TH and staff should have turned the corner by now.

BYU 13
S Fla 0

We’re 4-2 with losses to 2 top 10 teams. On track for a 9-3 type of season. I’m not blaming him for whatever happens in 2019, but that’s not where we would be if Charlie was still our coach.

Alabama 17
aTm 10

Hard sack on Mond. Ags to punt.

Long punt return by Bama to ags 20.

TD Alabama. .

Bama 24. Aggies 10.

Bama with a fumble recovery and driving deep in ag territory.

Tech and Baylor tied up at 3.

Fumble by Tech. Late 2nd Q

Baylor is wearing some really stupid looking helmets today with a cartoon bear head wearing a sailor cap.

Baylor shanks a punt. Tech driving deep in bear territory.

Red zone defensive stand by Baylor. Tech with a FG.

Tech 6
Baylor 3

Late 2nd Q. (9 seconds left)

Wells and Ruhle are both quality coaches. But neither has the thoroughbred horses to work with yet. Still both are dangerous and could take us if we play poorly.

Tech does a bouncing squib kick. Baylor gets it.

Baylor moves it down and out of bounds.

56 yard field goal attempt upcoming.

No good.

Tech 6
Baylor 3
Halftime.

Multiple turnovers.

Charlie strikes back. BYU 23 So Florida 14. Long kickoff return by USF. Charlie in BYU territory with the ball.

BYU D stuffs them and forces a 3 and out.

Sorry Charlie. :rolleyes1:

Yikes. Baylor with a TD. 60 yard return. Then Brewer runs it in.

Baylor 10
Tech 6.

Early 3rd Q.

Tech’s RJ Turner takes a short screen and runs for an 84 yard gain. Tech inside the Baylor 10.
