OTHER GAMES

Michigan State badly overthrows wide open guy for what would have been TD, settles for FG. Then drops a pass that would have gone for 15 on 3rd and medium, then on defense they drop an interception. Geez.

Oregon State is already creaming UCLA 21-0 less than halfway through the first. Latest score came after Oregon State drop kicked the ball on the kickoff and recovered it at the UCLA 30.

Tulsa is thrashing SMU on both sides of the ball. SMU's offense only has 3 points, the other six from defensive interception. Tulsa up 30-9 and driving again in third quarter.

Darn. And I was enjoying SMU’s run and top 25 ranking—ahead of lesser football programs in our state.

Maybe I spoke too soon. SMU has scored twice in the fourth quarter, and only trails 30-23 with more than half of the quarter left. . . . . SMU now has the ball on its own 10 with 5:30 left, third and 20. Then a pass interference on Tulsa on a pass that would not have been completed absolutely saved SMU on that series. First and ten on 25. Double reverse pass complete. SMU has ball on Tulsa 38 with 4:29 left. Pass completed to 29. First and 10. Another completion to the 21. Third and two. Fourth and one. Run to the 12 yard line. First down. 2:22 left.

Maybe I spoke too soon on UCLA, too. They've cut the lead from 21 to 10 with almost 10 minutes left in the third.

Refs miss the delay of game on the Tulsa TD in overtime. Back judge, pre snap you have one job. One job. How the hell do you miss a delay of game? I get so tired of refs being so incompetent. Should dock pay on mistakes like that. Actually you make a mistake like that you should lose the game check. Make these *** holes accountable for once. I screw up in my job and miss the sale we lose the commission. These guys can do whatever they want and their pay is the same.

Down 21 in the 4th quarter, Buechele brings them back to win on the first play of their 3rd overtime. Play was originally called incomplete but over turned on review.

Time to commission that statue.

That winning catch was amazing. Great defense too, even got his hand on the ball a bit, but Shane put it where it would either be incomplete or a score.

Delay of game should be reviewable since it's 100% objective. As should stuff like ball made it to LOS or not on a grounding call.

Stanford powers it in to the end zone from several yards out.

Stanford 20
Washington 10

Mid 3rd Q. Lousy attendance.

Stanford with the INT in Washington territory. Not looking good for the dogs.

And now Stanford with a FG.

Stanford 23
Washington 13

And that’s the final.

Stanford 23
Washington 13

The PAC 12 is wide open for the taking. Nobody has the inside track. And probably nobody makes the playoffs.

Stanford has one heck of a TE.

Agree. Hopefully, maybe, perhaps the PAC-12 will raise so much stink that at a minimum only Conference Champions get in. That will keep 2 or 3 from the $EC out. The better will be expanding to 8 teams - the 5 Conference Champions; the Group of 5 highest rated; and two others (yes probably both $EC slots in most years). This would require a couple of changes: (1) No independents (get in Conferences ND and BYU); and (2) No Championship game between two teams from the same Conference - those elimination games would have to be played the first two playoff games.

I’m for expanding the playoffs. I’m not sure how to best do it though. I wouldn’t mind seeing a play in game between the champions of the top two ‘mid major’ conferences, or perhaps the winner of SMU’s conference vs the top ranked independent. An SMU or an Army might get a chance—and they just might upset one of the big boys in the first round of the playoff.

As for the PAC 12 this year—there’s an empty throne just waiting to be captured, but apparently nobody is up to the challenge (at least yet).
