OTHER GAMES

Not that it matters, but how is that not PI on Georgia. Just sling the WR out of the way and then catch the ball intended for him. If I was Harbaugh I'd just go sit in the middle of the field until the picked me up and carried me off. Georgia came to play and is just better but damn.

^ it was a missed PI on GA no doubt. How could ref. not see that?

Mich. looks like a deer in the headlights first half..... suspect Dawgs will blow em out the second half.

Not supposition, just fact. This is a Big XII crew, handpicked by Walleye Burks. While they should never be allowed to do a major game, they are auditioning for an SEC gig tonight.

GA goal line stand. Still 34-3.

Under 7 minutes... UM fans will soon swarm Miami bars to drown their sorrows about this beatdown by GA.

Under the current format, I agree.

In a "normal" year, it would have included OU, either USC or Oregon, so no room for pity votes

An expanded playoff will just water down the money for the bowls, lessen interest. You are either one of the four best or you're playing somewhere else.

I will say this until the day I die. How can a team be a national champion and not even win their own league? Same goes for basketball and every sport that includes anybody who doesn't win their conference at any level.

Major league baseball had it right until they expanded. The only way you can include teams who haven't won their conference is if you include every team who has won their conference.

Winning your own league doesn't matter. It's the best teams, period. Horns will be in the SEC soon and you we will see they will recruit better and after watching this brutal conference you can know the other conferences don't stack up most years. Letting conference champs from weak sisters of the poor in a playoff achieves nothing.

If it's best teams in then why even have conferences? Why have conference championship games? Why not pencil the top 2 teams from the SEC before the season begins because obviously it doesn't matter what happens a week prior to final selection.

Conference strength ebbs & flows. I remember when the SouthWest Conference was the best football conference in the country. I'll bet there are some here that don't remember the SWC. The SEC will not always be top dog.

Respectfully disagree. By this logic March Madness should only include 4 teams. Only allowing 4 teams in the play-off will sometimes/frequently omit the best team in the country. I personally support a minimum of 8 teams with the big 5 conference champions + 3 at large to include at least 1 group of 5/independent. Just my opinion...& opinions are like a-holes. Everybody has 1 & most of them stink.

Really disappointed in Michigan.. Georgia just put a physical whipping on them.

if Georgia plays like that against Bama, they can win. When Cincy and Auburn put pressure on Bryce Young, he struggled. Georgia got no pressure on him in the SEC championship game.

Agree Clean. Plus it’s hard to beat a team twice. Loser the first time appears to learn more than the previous winner. Except in grossly overmatched cases of course.

sahorn,

Compare basketball revenue to football - can't be done. UNC brings in more basketball money than any other school, and even with Phil Knight in their hip pocket, it does get close to $20 million. Major program football games bring in $11-14 million per home game. Bowl games pad that money. Under the current status, 70+ teams play in bowl games and receive extra revenue (unless their educrats waste it all on fancy hotel suites, first class airfare, and fancy restaurants). Alums at many schools do not travel, and asking them to travel to multiple extra sites each year will water down the system even more.

Having a couple of thousand basketball fans travel to regionals is a far cry from asking 20,000+ travel to multiple locations on various weekends around Christmas will water down attendance even more.

The only reason I'm ok with a four team playoff is this tear the two best teams are from the same conference and wouldn't get to meet in a traditional bowl.

While I'm at it, I would do away with conference "championship games".

Saber: I don't disagree with anything you've said; I just believe the best team has been missed many times. Bama & UGA are clearly dominant this year, but that's not always the case. I agree, get rid of conference championship games & use that weekend for another round of play-offs. Using the basketball analogy, in '84 (?), NC State would not have made the tournament had it not been expanded from the previous year. UH was clearly the better team but they got out-coached & out-played by NC State. It was good for b-ball to expand the tourney. I believe it would be good for football to follow suite.

Don't mean to argue. I respect your opinion, but simply disagree.

An expanded playoff, i mean really expanded, would bring much more excitement to the playoffs because each game would be a must win. (DUH) teams would play with heart and there would be less players opting out.

NC State won the automatic qualifier in 1983 by winning the ACC tourney. You may be thinking of Villanova the year later.

Watching the fiesta bowl. Why are the cameras focused on the interim ND coach after every big play to see his reaction?
