ESPN halftime guys saying OU’s Rattler front runner to win the Heisman. He hasn’t even played yet! He that good or just over hyped?

He played last year, and played well towards the end of the season. That, plus OU's run of success with QB's and Heismans would make it easy for a lazy media type to hype him up.

It’s not that Mich State is playing all that well, it’s that NW is playing like they don’t know how to win. Multiple missed field goals, fumbled snaps, giving MSU’s QB way too much time, etc.

And now Mich State methodically drives it down the field for another TD.

Mich State 28
NW 7

Oh yeah, warning to Sabre—a female announcer is on this game.

Is she any good, or just HISTORIC!!! Most announcers and their color dude / washed up ex-jock are terrible, so if she even has one eye she could be King / Queen.

I don’t have a problem with her. But I’ve been cordially requested to give a warning whenever they have a female announcer on a game.

Now if only Bill Walton announced football games… :lmao:

And I long for the day when Leach retires and hits the announcer booth.

Leach I think would be a good announcer. He'd be both insightful and tell you what the teams were trying to do and how, and would be funny to listen to. But I expect him to crash out of college football at some point from something that all the other talking heads will say is terrible, just terrible, and be banished from the sport.

Kenneth Walker, Michigan State RB, has over 200 yards now. The Spartans are blocking well, and have established a very effective running game. They’re wearing down NW’s D front. Classic, brutal, pound them on the ground game. (Say, I’d like to see us do some of that tomorrow!!! :bevo::bevo::bevo:)

:msu:

.

So, basically playing like the Northwestern we all grew up with...

9/4

Week 1 of the 2021 season

Penn State at Wisconsin - Badgers with their usual tough play in the trenches should be favored over the evil empire. Wisconsin also sports a top 10 Defense. On Wisconsin!

Stanford v Kansas State at Arlington - Stanford has a history of messing up the early season of teams from the middle part of the country.

Louisiana-Monroe at Kentucky - vintage pre-conference scheduling by an SEC team.

Oklahoma v Tulane - Sooners rock them like a hurricane.

Colgate at Boston College - :rolleyes1:

Fordham at Nebraska - :rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1:

Holy Cross at U Conn - U Conn sucks so bad that this small Catholic school might just take them.

Western Michigan at Michigan - trap game or the Wolverines busting up an in-state directional school, proving their mastery of the frozen North… :smokin:

West Virginia at Maryland - Moonshine over Crabs today.

Army at Georgia State - I like having a handful of option teams. Army rolls along.

Louisiana Tech at Miss State - Leach survives a potential trap game.

Central Michigan at Missouri - more vintage SEC pre-conference scheduling. We’d better not stoop to this level when we move conferences.

Alabama at Miami - Manny Diaz’s sure-tackling Defense shuts down Bama’s vaunted O. :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Indiana at Iowa - #17 vs #18 - a very interesting matchup that could be a barn burner in the Corn Belt. Iowa has a very good defense. Indiana can really score. Maybe the best even matchup today.

Marshal at Navy - another interesting matchup with an option team.
Go Navy!

Texas Tech at Houston - could be a tight game. This year, Coach Wells has to start producing. The honeymoon is just about over on the South Plains.

Kent State at aTm - even more vintage SEC pre-conference scheduling.

LSU at UCLA - both teams are promising unknowns. UCLA skunked a Hawaii team that tackled like a bunch of flower arrangers at a Waikiki Beach hotel. Still, the Bruins are pretty decent. LSU could be upset tonight.

Oregon State v Purdue

Florida Atlantic at Florida - Atlantic puts up a valiant fight, but the Gators have too much and refuse to lose to this sort of in state school. (Not FSU or Miami).

Georgia at Clemson - HEADLINE GAME - #5 vs #3
Uigalelei is no Trevor Lawrence, but he’s good. Both teams are stacked with talent. Dabo’s in game coaching may be the difference. Clemson.

No Illinois at Ga Tech - who cares

Wm & Mary at Virginia - Ha! What a matchup for history buffs. The humorless, yet militarily effective, ultra-Reformist Puritans led by the formidable (joint-Sovereign) King William of Orange vs the gallant and romantic Cavalier loyalists to the House of Stewart. Look for history to reverse itself this time and the Noble Cavaliers to prevail today over the stick-up-the-rear Puritans. Oh yeah, Notre Dame fans will be strongly rooting against King William’s troops. Bloody brawls will break out in London, Liverpool, Glasgow, and Belfast as they stream this game on tv overseas.

Syracuse at Ohio - they must be aiming to peg the meter low on TV game viewership on this one.

BYU at Arizona - BYU may be auditioning for the Big 12 this year, so they’d do well to win this very winnable game.

Nevada at California - Carson Strong - the Nevada QB - is good. So is the Bears pass rush (last year at least). Could be a barn burner. (in which the marijuana crop in Cal’s barn goes up in flames.):smokin::smokin::smokin:

Kent State vs. aggy. Gotta pull for Kent State (a forlorn hope, I know) because a great aunt of mine earned a degree there about 120 years ago.

Ok ties game. Rattler sneak 7-7.
OK 3 false starts in one drive. Hope we don't do that
Nerves.....not a matter of bad coaching.

Top marks for including the English Civil War into a write up of this week's games. Not only do people get football insight from this board, but a history lesson too. A double dose - like an Iron Maiden song.

No exxageration. Tulane receivers are wide open.touchdown. tulane just pouring thru the ok defense on a run. Really unbelievable..14-7

Wisconsin really uses their TEs well.

A long methodical drive. Another Badger first down to the PSU 30.

0-0 late first quarter.

W’s power running taking control behind that OL. Inside the red zone now. Another first down. Yep. Wisconsin has its usual dominant OL again this year.

First down Wisconsin inside the two on a QB sneak.

PSU goalline stand. And PSU blocked the field goal!

0-0 second quarter.

Tie game in Oklahoma 14 to 14 Tulane's offensive line is dominating the defensive line.

End of the first quarter Oklahoma offense looks okay but their defense looks terrible. they better improve as the season goes when they meet texas or else they're going to lose

This probably belongs in a separate thread, to be titled "Stupid Games of Non-Interest", but here goes:

Stanford (unranked) is playing K State (unranked) in a certain stadium in Arlington, TX. And on the field it says ALLSTATE KICKOFF CLASSIC, to which I respond WTF????

This isn't even the first game of the college season (it started last weekend, you numbskulled corporate hacks) and in what alternate universe would a matchup between these two unranked teams be considered a "classic"???

And I can't help but notice how quickly the director at FS1 switches away from any cameras shots that display the multitude of empty seats in the stadium.

Kickoff classic, my left foot.

And now another long methodical drive by Wisconsin. They’re wearing down the Penn State D front.

W - 11 first downs
PSU - 1 first down

The Wisconsin QB fumbles and PennState recovers inside their own 10.

still 0-0

Again— all that work for nothing!

Tulane unforced fumble are down 10 points to OK.
Not sure if I want OK to lose because I want that undefeated matchup going into the Red River shootout however as far as the playoff implications go I hope Oklahoma does lose cuz that will help Texas get an entry into the playoffs.

OK forces another fumble.
