I see Murphy is wearing #6. Figured they would’ve retired Case’s jersey after that pinball run against aggy to set up the game winning fg.
 
I hope Johntay Cook and AD Mitchell play, and Xman goes away. Maybe Neyor can play to rest Cook once in a while.
 
Maalik should starts!

The ball moved down the field when he was at QB, like when Colt was at QB, like when Sam was at QB. Quinn still looks great one play, then can't see the field the next.

Won't happen though because Sark doesn't have the balls to bench Quinn when he's having a bad day.

Murphy seems to have a much quicker release. Hopefully sark has had an awakening and won’t be as stubborn in his decision making.
 
Murphy looked good. Ive been hard on him. Ewers looked good. A.D. Mitchell looked great. I see him as a go to difference maker
Cook looked good and fast.
This offense has a lot of potential, a lot of weapons. Red and Blue looked good running the ball.
Maybe we do have a backup QB in Murphy.
 
Over at Lincoln Riley way. He made sure to have his number 1 offense go against a defense that looked like walk ons. Anything to keep the fans happy.

Well, my main preference is that Worthy not play. To me, he never catches a ball where I say, “only a rare WR could have caught that.” Sometimes he is open because of his speed or moves, but then he sometimes drops the ball or runs away from the trajectory of the ball. I prefer someone who gets open sometimes, but also catches contested balls and sometimes bails the QB out of an imperfect pass (maybe when the qb has to throw blindly when the pocket is caving in). Worthy is not that guy, but Cook and Mitchell seem to be.

Well, Quinn could easily either get hurt or have a 4-int game and Malik gets his chance. If Quinn truly sucks, Malik may be better. If the problem is terrible OL or terrible receivers, well,at least Malik could run.
 
After a very small "sample", Malik has a very quick release, makes reads rapidly, and makes throws a bunch of our QBs can't make. The scramble to the left and throwing across his body for the first down was a thing of beauty.

Was it my imagination or did the WR/RB look more comfortable with Murphy at QB?

Malik definitely was the best QB on the field. Ewers looked like what we saw last year, and Manning looked like a promising freshman. Ewers will start against Rice and Alabama, but if we see a repeat of Tceh or oSu, Malik might get the Wyoming start.

The encouraging thing for me was Texas definitely has 3 high-caliber receivers.
 
I would love to see specific packages that Malik runs.
Give a squad, some very talented 2nd string WRS as well , 4-5 plays that they master.
Run them out from time to time to do something the opposing D hasn’t seen on tape.
We have a QB, 2nd string RBs, a few OL and WRs that could start elsewhere.
Give them specific plays to run.

Maybe that’s why I was in sales and not in coaching?
 
Malik and Ewers both looked good. Malik definitely has velocity and a nice touch on the deep ball. Hard to judge who is actually better with the vanilla stuff they were running with limited reads having to be made. I’m thinking that’s where Ewers would have the edge because of his experience in the system.
 
Just now watching replay. Ewers to A D Mitchell TD! Dayum what a catch... he may demand some serious playing time with Worthy, Whitt, Nayor, etc. The WR talent coupled with TE Sanders is lethal !!!
