Opting Out

With Kerstetter plus Karic, Majors, Angilou, Jones, Johnson, Okafor, Hookfin, Moore, Ghirmai and Imade, it will not be bare bones depth for the new OL coach

And Tyler, Parr, Garth, Conner, Merril, and maybe another for the late signing day. We're definitely going to have some attrition, but you can't accuse Texas of not having bodies to play OL. Just need some adults in the room to coach some of them up.

When did things get so F'ed up ? When did society put the cart before the horse ????
When did the inmates start running the asylum ??? Things weren't F'ed up like this back in the early 1960's !!!
It got F'd up when AD's and presidents started seeing College Football through the same lens that we view NFL. When the priority became, this...."Texas, unsurprisingly, led the nation by a wide margin by a whopping $33 million. The Longhorns have maintained their lead despite enduring the program’s worst decade since the 1950s. UT’s revenue has more than tripled since 2003, the earliest year data is available, when they led the country with $47 million in football-specific revenue." All the BS that the University does now under the guise of "gameday experience". The $6MM coaching salaries, the pay-to-play tailgate venues, the dozens and dozens of advertisers, the jumbo-trons with their jumbo commercials, etc.

You aren't going to get the ATHLETE-students to prioritize team obligations ahead of their own wallet when every other participant in the enterprise is "show me the money". Our institutions, (with our tacit approval) have almost destroyed the very thing that made college football special. We have basically turned this enterprise into a minor league full of Rent-a-Jocks.

BOSD, we’re just getting started. Wait to see next year with pay to play, all legitimacy out the window. Integrity? Gone.

I fear you may be very, very right about this.

Wait till the endorsements come into play, or pay as the case may be. That plus the Portal means it's quite simply, minor league pro ball, with not even a season long contract, as a player can Portal away during the season.

Title IX programs are not going to fund themselves

Very true. The Niner programs are what I call F&F programs - Friends and Family. If you're neither to the players, there's about zero chance anyone will watch.

But, as I'm told about in every other commercial, woman can do anything a man can do and better, and The Future is Female!!! So why have women's only sports at all? Just make everything co-ed, and let the best get picked, sort of like 5th grade kickball.

Plus it'll cut down on the transvestitism, where some 205 lbs. dude with a beard and Hulk Hogan biceps, wins a woman's sporting event, under the assumed name of Paula.

All not quite true Duck, because my daughters all played soccer in HS wife an I attended a few soccer games, and for pure excitement we went to some VB games. All this was before they got ‘woke’ though. Oh yeah, we also enjoyed watching Cat on the diamond too. No family or personal friends on any team.

When I was at UT women's basketball FAR outdrew the men until Penders arrived and BMW started creating some excitement. I remember going to the Erwin Center to watch Jody's crew and having to sit upstairs most nights. Also enjoyed watching volleyball, and still do. Success breeds fans and if you have it, the seats hold a lot more than friends and family.

When you have a good team and a good coach, you don't have the issues that arose in Austin this year. Players tend to forget what they are here for and take off in different directions when they are not focused.

Joe, what do you know about Wheaton...and think?

I just wrote this on the recruiting board

Some people (like Justin Wells for example) keep trying to compare him to Jamaal Charles, but I dont think that is a fair comp. Jamaal clocked a 10.18 100m, which would have won a silver at the 1984 Olympics. He reached 80% of top speed in his first 4 steps. Jamaal was something of a RB unicorn (another one of Mack Brown's underutilized players). But the point is that Wheaton is not Jamaal Charles

But he is pretty fast and is a very good athlete. However ....... LJ Johnson is still the better running back and the better football player, so we hope for him. Should know shortly. If LJ does end up at aggy then Wheaton becomes a target.

One more factoid, it looks like Wheaton's prospective position coach at Alabama is leaving too. Charles Huff to be the HC at Marshall. He is an excellent recruiter too

I'm sorry it didn't work out for Ingram, but if I came into an organization and found out that one of the folks had actually worked against said organization (like telling recruits to go somewhere else), I would suggest/insist they they should leave. He should have transferred before he did negative recruiting.

No, he’s definitely not Jamaal, a one of a kind.

It got me thinking about some of of our past speed players and I thought of DJ Monroe. He ran a 10.4 in high school but Mack wouldnt play him either. The most memorable time was an ou game we could have won, but we could never convert 3-and-short as ou kept crushing our run game. I screamed, "Put Monroe in, where the hell is he!?" By coincidence, just at that moment, the TV crew scanned the sidelines and there he was calmly standing there with his helmet under his arm.

Which lead to someone creating this
