Opting Out

Nahlin suggests another portal on the way

Also from TFB --

Haven’t gotten the ok from my source to release the name but am told another entrant to the portal is likely to come in the next few days. Likely Monday or Tuesday. Player is a freshman. I’m told he hasn’t let the coaches know but does already have a spot and has begun moving out. So, while the coaches may be able to convince him to stay, I don’t imagine it will be easy

Dixon sort of makes sense, but we will see

They did say its not Bijan or Collins

Okafor is also returning
I think Tope Imade too
Kerstetter already announced, so If he can play again he will be back to RT with Majors showing pretty well at center
Okafor can fight it out at RG with Hookfin and TJohnson

True freshman Xavion Alford is mulling over the portal after Texas chased a safety in the transfer market.
Another young defensive back may be looking to exit as well after the addition of cornerback Darion Dunn.

"We’re not entirely ruling out a return of quarterback Sam Ehlinger. We think it’s unlikely but not entirely out of the question depending on how things shake out in the next few weeks. He has accepted and invitation to the Senior Bowl but it’s not binding.

Potential defensive returns: On defense, end Marqez Bimage is expected to return after opting out in 2020. Edge is a big question mark heading into next year with Joseph Ossai entering the NFL draft early. In a bit of a surprise, Bimage may be the favorite to replace Ossai at JACK at this point. Bimage is down over 20 pounds since we saw him last. He’s right around 255 pounds currently. Recall, Bimage had to work to gain weight to play 4i but is now back to a more natural weight.

At this point, defensive end Jacoby Jones is also expected to return. If Bimage moves to JACK, then you’d have Jones, Vernon Broughton, and Ja’Tavion Sanders at defensive end.

With the graduation of Ta’Quon Graham, we’ve heard Moro Ojomo will move to 3-technique where he’ll share snaps with Alfred Collins. Ojomo came on strong this year at defensive end but defensive tackle is his more natural position.

Why would Alford leave just becasue we bring in a DB to replace DBs on the depth chart. Didn't we have some DBs leave early or portal out ? No way that is the reason he is leaving if he does in fact leave.

Broughton, Collins, Sweat, Ojomo, Jones, Bimage, Coburn will be good. Why can’t we have something serviceable on the OL?

Did Prince Dorbah leave the team and I missed it? Why would he be left out of this article - Thought we recruited him as an edge rusher?

He had (what was supposed to be minor) knee surgery

I read its possible he might play in the bowl - but not yet confirmed by Herman

What an odd situation relative to the opt outs (or re-ups) if, as I believe, Herman is a dead man walking. While the players may not know any more than we do, one would think that they do know something’s up. That has to weight into some of the calculations.

Best of luck to him but I don't think he will get drafted or even invited to the combine. He really could have benefited from another season at Texas to increase his draft stock but if he feels it's best for him then I support it:hookem:

Eagles, to me, is at least 3rd round material and if he had a team first attitude like Roschon he would have proved it. But I guess being "woke" had more sway over him and it diminished his role to a degree. I do think he needs to stay for another season cuz he can improve his draft stock.

Who will take a chance on him? Not just football, but in the job market? Good luck collecting a paycheck, much less NFL type money from your puppeteers. I pity him for allowing himself to be used, but it happens, and the results ain't pretty.
