Well, all the gawdamn knee taking has sure quelled the racist white cop killing innocent angel black folks, now hasn't it?

You are correct that some will be happy. They can’t help it. More seriously, I wish there was a private market solution where they could be happier. Regardless their antics tick off a lot of would be supporters. So, several of you will be happy. I won't, I can't help it.
So I'm left to interpret "Oh good grief" as your disagreement? Your belief is that they're kneeling to promote bad behavior? Please elaborate?Oh good grief.
You're purposely murkying the waters between private sector pay (MLS v. NWSL) and the "public sector" (the men's and women's national team). If you didn't know the difference then you're dense. You're not dense.Kneeling is going to mean equal pay? Okay.
Female golfers don't earn as much either. Unfortunately, it has to do with TV money and attendance. I like the LPGA. I tune in and we have been to 2 tourmanmets that were in our area.
Kneeling for equal pay is...stupid. Sorry.
Ah, that's true. Anyway, I think kneeling in protest is a dense way to bring attention to that if that is really the case, especially in light of what kneeling has come to symbolize. You're purposely murkying the waters between private sector pay (MLS v. NWSL) and the "public sector" (the men's and women's national team). If you didn't know the difference then you're dense. You're not dense.
Well, every female soccer team is supposed to kneel before, or after, the anthems of both teams, based on agreements between the teams who are able. So far, I think they all have.
We didn't kneel during the anthem. I don't recall if it was before or after, but it definitely wasn't during.
They are all kneeling now for equal pay with the men. Who once again couldn't even win enough games to make it to the Olympics.
I love soccer, and played it for several years. It makes me sad to see our team divided. When it was kneeling for racism, not every player knelt.
But, they are treated like second hand citizens in the USA compared to the men.
Our men's team has won squat on the big stage.
The few times they have qualified for the World Cup, they couldn't even make it out of group play. The same for the Olympics.
Yet, they are payed more, fly first class, stay in fancy hotels in single rooms, have a high per Diem when traveling, and will only play on natural grass fields.
They also make a higher salary just for showing up.
Our women have won several World Cups, Gold medals at the Olympics, and overall, on the international stage have totally outperformed our men.
Yet, they fly coach, share rooms at Holiday Inns, play on everything from dirt, Astro turf, to occasional grass, and when they win, they make much less per player than the men if the men merely make it to the World Cup, never mind the results. They make less for winning the biggest sports event in the world than the men make for showing up and losing immediately. So I am with them to that point.
However, as far as television dollars, the men's games far outperform the women's.
So, I don't know what the solution is. The women want equal dollars to the men.
In my mind, the powers that be should have 2 scales of pay, one for the big International games, where tons of people watch the women, the women perform and win, and they should reap the rewards financially.
Then, a second scale based on televised games, where the men make more based on advertising dollars, and usual tv metrics.
So, that is why the women are kneeling right now at the Olympics.
It bothers me immensely, as our previous teams have always been very patriotic and played as a united team. I don't even know if we will make it out of our group play this Olympics. We are playing horribly, and even if we make it to the "one and done" rounds, we will play a #1 seeded team, most likely Brazil who will beat us like a rug unless something radically changes.
So, several of you will be happy. I won't, I can't help it.
Yes, US girls/women's soccer is well past the rest of the world. My girl is on a decent club team. Not great. They traveled to Europe and were very salty. They beat and traded punches some professional teams and some national teams. That said, national team pay should be the same. MLS getting more than NWSL? Sure, let the market bear it out. The market is not playing a part in the national team formation.Besides the obvious..."it is entertainment and thus market driven". You can also put into the justification bucket....Women's Soccer is about 10% as competitive as Men's. They didn't even have a Cup until 1991. They are just now getting to a field of 32 teams. Any nation with a pulse can get into the tourney. They are playing nations that literally keep their women locked down inside the house. The number of professional clubs and junior clubs around the world is about 15 times the number of women's.
If anything the Women's Team success points to a US system that does far more than ANY OTHER NATION IN THE WORLD FOR GIRLS AND WOMEN. These women aren't "wonder woman" with cleats, they have just been able to play on the same fields as the boys and have select teams and college teams in a way that virtually no other nation in the world provides for their young girls.

So you think the national team should have the same pay differential that the private sector has?Yes. Because there is more market demand to watch them live and on TV. The women aren't ever going to be paid as much as the men in this regard. UNLESS, people start wanting to watch them more than the men and are willing to pay more for tickets to attend. It's economics. It isn't treating women as second class citizens. It is a stupid false narrative.

Using that fine logic we should pay female members of congress less than male members of congress. The situation is still governed by economic law.
Is Congress a spectator sport? Oh wait, it has become that.Using that fine logic we should pay female members of congress less than male members of congress.

If we paid members of Congress for productivity - oh wait, I guess there's no productivity to measure.Using that fine logic we should pay female members of congress less than male members of congress.
So, I don't know what the solution is.
Using that fine logic we should pay female members of congress less than male members of congress.
Man, you are really off. Either that or you are a misogynist, if you really think females should be paid less to do the same job. A Congresswoman performs the same job as a Congressman in the same Congress and therefore is paid the same.
USNWT members play for a team that take in less money than the USNMT. They both get paid what their economic demand entails. Two different teams playing in two different leagues of which sports fans value two different ways.
I feel dirty here, but I think Bubba was being sarcastic to try to make his point.Man, you are really off. Was I correct? You obviously don't think female Congress types would be paid less, right?Have some poop.

ESPN is such a garbage organization. Imagine Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers coming out at halftime of the Superbowl saying "my mental isn't there" and sitting out the second half of the game because they threw 2 INT in the first half and are down 14.
Would ESPN be marking it as a landmark achievement in recognizing mental health over winning?
Get the F out of here. Biles is the greatest female gymnast of our time and she **** the bed then left her team out to dry. Truly pathetic. Unless you rolled your ankle and can't physically compete, get your *** out there and contribute. She better not compete in the individual all around. Pathetic. If she was White Id be saying the same thing. Total garbage.
