Belton High School AD, Bob Shipley, commented on Shack:

“He’ll get some 15-yarders every once in a while. But I’d rather say, ‘Whoa,’ than ‘Giddy up.’

“Our whole team, after last season, we realized we weren’t mentally or physically tough enough,” Shipley continued. “And Shack has been great for the rest of the team. He kind of personifies what we want our kids to be like.

“He got a few 15-yarders for driving a guy, picking him up and slamming him on the ground.

“A lot of times they’ll call him for holding, because he’ll block a guy five or 10 yards and then he’ll basically just pick ‘em up and body slam him, jump on top of ‘em and try to break the other guy’s will.

I would much rather recruit all DL and take the smarter ones and make them OL. Royal used to do something similar to that. Bustamante was a very good OL for us years ago who was a DL recruit when Mackovic was here; as one example. DL are much meaner than OL and generally better athletes and much quicker of foot......
 
I like it. Enrolling immediately!! Wants to get on the line with Williams and Vahe. Lord would be great if the kind of lines, on both sides, of '04 and '05 can get going again!! Think it's coming. Thanks for all the updates.

So, you don't agree with moves this coaching staff is making?
What a surprise.
Don't allow yourself to get excited or celebrate anything now.
Wouldn't want you to get out of character.
 
They need players on both lines. Skill position players on either side of the ball aren't that important for this class in my opinion.

It doesn't matter who the coach is. I think you should recruit all DL to fill your OLine and DLine. DL are the best linemen on any high school team...quicker, faster, meaner, etc, etc..There are a few exceptions but.....Nearly all OL on high school teams are the slow, less aggressive players on the team. The beasts are the ones put on the defensive front. You recruit all DL and take the smart ones who can't crack the 2 or 3 deep on the DL and make them OL. You end up with beasts who will tear your head off on both sides of the ball instead of the non-agressive players we have had at Texas the last few years.
