Obama visits Horns

Hagy,

You are an internet message board troll. Sen. Obama is a US Senator who may very well garner votes from over 50 million of your fellow American citizens. It's ok to disagree with someone's views, but to spew the hatred you are spewing because he visited our players makes me embarrassed we attended the same University.

One of the best things about UT is its diversity- if you don't like it there's a college about 100 miles away for you NW of Houston that has similar view points as yourself.

I'll put in a (partial) word on behalf of Hagy. I would probably pass on the opportunity to meet either Hillary or Obama. Still, I think his photo op with our football team was not overtly political. I consider myself a Buckley conservative but am not bothered by Obama at our fieldhouse. Also, diversity for the sake of diversity is not a virtue. That's just getting a bunch of folks together who don't agree on some fundamental issues in life. Studies have shown that the more diverse a community is (neighborhood, campus, whatever), the more people will tend to associate and socialize only with others like themselves. Highlighting things that people have in common (citizens of the US, Texas, students at UT, for example) is much more worthwhile than pointing out their differences. And finally, WHY THE HELL HASN'T THIS BEEN MOVED TO THE WEST MALL!?!?

Socialism: a socio-economic system in which property and the distribution of wealth are subject to control by the community.

Sounds about right.

Listen to Obama talk. Listen to any ultra liberal Dem talk and the theme is the same: more government control. The govt will magically solve all problems and take care of you cradle to grave. Everyone can have everything and the govt will give it to you.

Why do liberals always resort to name calling when faced by opinions which differ from their own? Strange and ironic given their "diversity" platform. They are espeically big on thinking of new and sarcastic ways of calling people stupid. I guess it makes them feel smart.

Facts are facts Detective. You may view my presention of these facts as being vitriolic, but I see it as being pretty straight forward and simple.

You've basically said a whole lot of nothing, aside from telling us where you stand. We got it. You hate democrats. You love Republicans. Thanks for being so informative.

Hagy,

I'm an independent and vote both ways. If I was a Republican, you'd be embarrassing me now as you do already by the fact we went to the same university.

You take a photo op, where students are smiling and laughing with a US Senator, where the same US Senator is doing the Heisman pose, and spew out criticism about the Senator and the folks who invited him. It's almost like making fun of kids laughing on a playground and calling them immature because they're playing.

How much more clean, innocent and harmless could the visit be? Why are you an idiot? Because you took such a fun event and had to make it a political hate fest. You probably work yourself in a bunch to Bill O'Reilly all night. You are a polarizing idiot. Are all Democrats because they're Democrats to you? Don't answer that- I don't care what you think. No one here has told you what to do or how to act- yet you spew out your "I have rights" campaign every bit you get.

Dark Arts- actually, diversity is a good thing when you want to learn and advance. You of course are thinking of racial diversity and dump an anecdote you heard once. I'm actually talking about people's minds- it's better when not everyone has the exact same views and background so you can learn, discuss and come up with better ideas and solutions. I'm not going to bother to explain this further- as we're supposed to be discussing football on this board.

Thanks Hagy for bringing this down a few notches

Actually Hagy, if you really did listen to what Obama said, you would have heard that you have to put something into society to get something out of the government. For instance, he wants everybody to be able to afford college and he is willing to give money to people for college. But in order to get that money, you have to do acts of charity and community service. Sounds good to me. It doesnt sound like Obama wants you to sit on your *** and let the government solve all your problems at all.

Ignorance is bliss, isnt it?

This thread is awesome.

Hagy takes it to a whole new level of comedy.

I love the fact that hard-core conservatives can't come to grips with the fact that Democrats are taking over. W/Cheney have ruined any chance that Republicans have of political success.

The fact that McCain is the GOP candidate speaks volumes. He is the only republlcan I could ever vote for, save Chuck Hagel.
