Non-House, Senate, or Presidential Elections

That's basically why I didn't make the call. I can't tell who's good or bad, so I deemed myself unqualified to vote in those races.

I also voted for Round Rock ISD. That's easier, because the bad apples almost always signal their badness with buzzwords on their websites.

If the candidate looks like this

And has a statement like this

You vote for his opponent.
Another way to discern local races is to drive around and look at yard signs. See who is grouped together.

This year, I consistently see "Tanya for Congress" signs all over the place, but her signs are inevitably in the same yards that proudly display Harris/Walz and Collin Allred signs too. That isn't coincidental, and it is reason enough to vote against her. Same with a certain school board candidate and a county commissioner's race.

The "guilt by association" tool can be very useful. I have felt the urge to thank the local activist types with all the yard signs for making it so easy to learn who NOT to vote for.

She's a government school teacher and looks like Rachel Levine. That tells you a lot too.

She's not on my ballot, but she outs herself on her own site:

"concerned about the future of this country: the extreme attacks ... on women's healthcare"

Oh, I agree the website cements her positions. But for people who don't want to bother going to the website of a slimy politician, the commingled yard sign method is a really decent shortcut.

Ok, I'm having trouble with those that sound the same. Those running for ACC trustee spots are so similar that the Austin Chronicle even has to write: "Nitsch’s opponent, former ACC Chief Information Officer Joseph Sefton, believes in many of the same priorities as Nitsch and Wilson."

Voting for Nitsch or Sefton is the same.
