Non-House, Senate, or Presidential Elections

For the last mayoral election I voted in before moving, I voted for the Outlaw Josey Wales. I’m serious.

I don’t follow Houston politics anymore. Why did SJL back away from the trough? Surely Turner doesn’t live near Laura Koppe.

ii,

Her beyond ***** bullying finally caught up with her. I heard one news report that she had an "unfavorable" rating among nearly 60% of black voters. Someone released a tape of her cussing out and belittling a male staff member, who supposedly committed suicide. Her losing 2-1 is a real gut punch for Rodney Ellis, who runs the city and the county. Preachers are fed up with her walking in on funerals & church services, walking up, grabbing the mic and trying to turn into a "look at me & how impotent I am". Ellis will get Turner in Congress, and the new City Controller will keep Whitmire's people busy.

Turner claims he stays in Acres Home

ii,

A surprising stat to me that while Houston is the fourth largest city in the US (NY, LA, Chicago), Harris County has an additional 2 million that do not live within the city limits of Houston.

HHD,

That 2 milllion are still subject to the whims of the city because everything the city does impacts them. Then there is the TOTALLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL Metro. Congress could take lessons from Metro on how to waste money - a billion plus for buses the NO ONE rides; rail that NO ONE rides, but does kill people with their wrecks, MILLIONS for a walkway over Katy Freeway that is waiting for its first pedestrian.

If Humble hadn't "whored out", there wouldn't be a Metro

Chop's point could not be more important. Most people ignore these elections and then suffer the consequences.
Even here in Collin County there is dem creep onto school boards. Dems run candidates with great looking credentials and then work to get Demx to vote. It doesn't take many.

Most people don't vote in school board elections. The electorate is but a small % of the eligible voters. Most just don't know or care.

Exactly. Collin County GOP now is trying to educate voters on importance of school board elections and other "down ballot " elections. It is time consuming but critical.

The main people who vote in school board elections are school district employees or those with business involving the school district.

When I tell you that Oakland is a **** hole. . .

Hopefully the City Clerk is fired and arrested. Must have been a large bribe; otherwise, why agree to back stamp it?

I also keep reading Sheng Thao is the first Hmong American mayor. (Now corrected apparently by ending with "of a major city.") Who gives a ****? We've gone from race (i.e first black) to nation (i.e. first Mexican-American) to first indigenous group from a pocket of a continent? WTF. At least soon it can likely read "every Hmong American mayor (of a major city) has been arrested."

Makes you think maybe the Chinese are right about them? :e-face-tears:

Who should we vote for in the races for Texas supreme court justice places 2, 4, 6, court of criminal appeals justice places 1, 7, 8, and ACC trustee places 7 and 9?

I voted GOP for the Texas Supreme Court. I'll actually vote Dem over Nathan Hecht, but not over the others. I voted GOP for Court of Criminal Appeals, except for Gina Parker who is woefully and laughably unqualified. Left that one blank. Left ACC trustees blank.

ACC trustees have no differentiation amongst themselves based on the way they answer questions.

That's basically why I didn't make the call. I can't tell who's good or bad, so I deemed myself unqualified to vote in those races.

I also voted for Round Rock ISD. That's easier, because the bad apples almost always signal their badness with buzzwords on their websites.

If the candidate looks like this

And has a statement like this

You vote for his opponent.
