As a more complete picture on the background of Trayvon Martin emerges, I can't help but question what forces behind the scenes were responsible for the picture presented to the public. The usual suspects led by Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson demanded the arrest of a man portrayed as a vigilante stalking an innocent 140 lb kid munching on skittles. Now we see Trayvon mania. The Miami heat dons hoodies to honor his memory. A mob of Miami high school students ransack a Walgreen's store, and the New Black Panther Party offers a $10,000 reward for the capture of the man who shot him.

The first hint that this was most likely a witch hunt was the involvement of Al Sharpton. This event completes the trifecta of Tiwana Brawley, the Duke Lacrosse rape accusations, and now the murder of a sweet young boy. Whether or not George Zimmerman was in the right, the record shows the kid was a thief, thug, and general loser with a propensity to find trouble. And the doctors of exploitation - Sharpton and Jackson - have taken the opportunity to stir up racial division for personal gain.

Look, its a shame the kid is dead. The choices he had been making doesn't make this fact unexpected. In 1987, the great college basketball player Len Bias, suddenly died as a result of ingesting cocaine. Some claimed it was the first time Bias had tried the drug. We'll never know. Choices have consequences. At the time Bobby Knight summed it up

That antagonizing post does not invite open discussion to the post which alone would bring forth aggression. Why fan the flames and why instigate? It makes you look really bitter and narrow minded. Are you?

Maybe with some time to ponder the evidence some have rethought their stances or opinions and will state as such. But not with a post like that. Do you seek discourse or duel?

Musburger,

I'm not sure you realize what you just stepped into. Zimmerman is the thug don't you know. This could get ugly.

You assault someone with a gun and you risk getting blown away. And then you are cold.

I don't know the validity of this account. But if fits the profile for someone with a Twitter Account of NO LIMIT N***A. If true, then I ask, who is (make that was) the racist?

Musbuger, you know your post will have some of the race-baiters on this board demanding that you attend sensitivity training courses.

There are a few things going on. Outside of this case, blacks get arrested and harassed just for being black. Shoot, just a few months ago a friend of mine who is black was stopped by a policeman who asked him what he was up to. He was walking to get pizza. How often do you get bothered like this? And it would, of course, been a more detailed questioning if he had had a drink, wore baggy clothes or spoke improper english. That doesn't happen so often with whites. It may not be racism but it sure the hell isn't equal treatment. And the guy above has a PhD and has to worry every night that his kids make it home safe even though his kids make straight As and stay out of trouble. Anyway, this is where many blacks are coming from. Blacks want to point attention to this phenomena in the hope of changing it.

Then there is the second issue, the specifics of the case... Here there are things that point fault in many directions and evidence needs to gathered and analyzed. And the general discussion on black harassment has had an effect on the case specifics.

I love the double standard, Zimmerman's background is ok to use against him, but investigating the background of the possible physical aggressor is not?

In any crime investigation the victim's, suspects, witnesses, cops(see OJ trial), attorney's, judge's, everyone's background is investigated and used in court.

Quit the crying how what happened before does not matter, IT MATTERS IN ALL CRIMES!!!!

If you are worried about his reputation then don't stay in the public eye, go on vacation and don't talk to Al Sharpton. Talk about a mother and father dtaking advantage of a tragic situation.

If Obama really wants to do something positive for this country he would come out and say to everyone, to go home, settle down, let the authorities do their job and then we can have a discussion about it. Sharpton Jackson quit stirring the pot, go home and quit Race Hustling! That would just about assure Obama of re-election. Hell that one action would make me reconsider or at least think about my vote in November.

I agree with Major (is that a first) that everything is relevant in this -- the reputation of the participants wll help prosecutors, and perhaps ultimately, jurors get insight into participant's state of mind and plausibility of story lines and behaviors.

The baggy pants and hip hop personna that many young ones are adopting these days doesn't resonate with me, but I'm smart enough to know that they are molded by a far different life experiences.
