The ninja is a badass black chick who joins the group, disappointingly archtypical and as you say a departure in my opinion. The prison in the graphic novels is sparsely populated by a small group of inmates who holdout in one area. the remainder is overrun by zombies.

But then who knows how closely they will follow the graphic novels where Shane died off early and Otis and Dale were still along for the ride and there was no Daryl or T-Dog and there were other characters that don't exist in the TV series.

They have already cast The Governor for next season. It may be they use the prison as his stronghold.

I love the show but seems to have a lot of contradictions on the 'rules."
For example, why weren't the zombie "pets" running after the lady at the end. If you cut off their arms they no longer crave flesh?

In Talking Dead a caller asked if Merle or Morgan or Duane would make an appearance in season 3 and the producer said one of the three would, so thats most likely Merle.

That was a pretty awesome way to introduce a new character -- sword wielding with neutered zombies as accessories.

However, I must admit I was hoping for something alittle more like one of these---

Even without jaws I would still think zombies would instinctively go towards flesh. They do it without legs, arms, torsos. Zombies only have one speed, and that's go towards flesh, regardless of their condition.

Haven't been to this thread in a while but that was a helluva finale. I wondered the same thing about the pet zombies and why they weren't more aggressive but in any case it's a great idea to have dummies to ward off trouble.

Next season can't come soon enough. This show is a great example of how the best programs are rarely on networks anymore.
