Nikki Haley for State?

Trump want smart competent people with a lot of ideas who will work together as a team. By accepting this job and a legal commission from the President, she implicitly accepts her role to support him.
So, a President wants support or best advice?
Sometimes my job is to tell the boss what won't work or why a proposal is not a good idea. And sometimes the boss still says "Make it work.":idk:

I would be equally pissed if memorials for my ancestors that fought in the American Revolution, Texas Revolution, World War 1 and World War 2 were ****ed with.

Htown, with all due respect (and I actually mean that), these memorials are not comparable to a memorable to Confederate troops.

That is far more important than corruption among our leaders (which includes Trump) that has no direct impact on my life.

Corruption may not impact your life as much, but tolerating it cheapens the sacrifice of those who died to create and protect the United States.

Haley is outspoken against Trump's anti-immigration stance.

Of course, so is Trump.

That's real life. Oftentimes the best people for a job aren't the ones who agree with you 100% of the time. Surrounding yourself with "yes men" is a huge reason why Obama is such a s#%ity manager and why Hillary lost. Additionally, oftentimes the best way to move up and help your company is to be a good teammate and do what the boss needs you to do.

That is real life. We've all been there. Frankly, government and politics could learn from that. That appears to be Trump's philosophy.

That is your opinion and I disagree. There were already three threads debating this with various viewpoints a year ago before the west mall got taken over by the Trumpricans.

Nothing wrong with disagreeing, and I think it was dumb to take it down in the wake of the Dylann Roof shooting which was totally irrelevant to it. However, I don't understand why this move is cause for the "political death penalty" for some.

This is where people have differing viewpoints and why we have contested elections. However, it is a matter of family and honor... two foreign ideas in 21st century America, I know. I can never support a leader that would make such a personal insult to a family member, even a dead one, such as taking down an inanimate historical memorial. Based on the last election, quite a few South Carolinians felt the same way.

So are you all voting for someone who will put the flag back up?

Is there any statewide officer or likely gubernatorial candidate who's calling for it?

The election is not until 2018. Does it change the fact that any elected official who had any hand in removing it at the time should pay the price and lose their seat?

If that was his or her only sin, I wouldn't toss him, but that's not the point. The reason why I asked is that I'm wondering how feasible it is that SC will elect a governor and legislature that would actually put the flag back up.

Hard to predict. A determined minority in the legislature that wants it back is not going anywhere. One would say the winds of change are in favor of it not coming back, but after Trump's election it is hard to predict what the future holds. Before Trump won, my guess would have been never coming back. Reps that will keep pushing it like Corely are young and not going anywhere though.

Is it really that hard to predict? I'm sure there will always be a vocal minority that is upset about it, but are SC Republicans really going to open that can of worms and take the national wrath that would come with it? I can't imagine it.
