Nickname for improved DKR Stadium

Personally I don't think the stadium should have a nickname. What's wrong with the way it is? We're Texas. We don't need a nickname.

Heaven forbid we get into a nickname war and share a nickname with another school by chance. We're looking at you ASU, LSU and Clemson.

Really? Death Valley? I think the only school that has a legitimate claim to that would be ASU due to proximity to the real thing.

Stupid idea. I still just call it Memorial.

I always thought the stadium name shold have been left alone, and that the field should have been named after DKR, not some rich guy. I also don't think that the rich guy should have a statue in the stadium either.

I know he's a great and loyal supporter of The University, and gives a shitload of money to the school, but some things just shouldn't be for sale.

I'll get off my soapbox now.

Did I mention the nickname thing is a dumb idea?

"The Bull Pen": That's already a baseball term; it won't work for a football stadium.
"The Corral": Way to perpetuate Texan stereotypes.

"The Palace": Won't work beacuse it's already taken by the Detroit Pistons, and the play off of Darrell K. Royal's name is a stretch to say the least.

If you want a nickname that is short, easy to remember, and has the potential to strike fear into opposing teams, you only need three letters spoken with pride and resolve: D. K. R.

Please don't forget that it is first and foremost a "Memorial" stadium, and a Royal one at that. For a shortened version,
Royal Memorial does nicely IMHO.
