I will be shocked if we don't make a change after what I watched last night against South Carolina.

The probability of this team even making the Tournament is probably less than 5% at this point, and I don't see anything promising in the future either.

We have compelling talent, but are absolutely awful in the X's and O's department, unless you like watching pickup basketball at the collegiate level.

I really do like Terry, but he is not the answer.

When he took over for Beard he kept the guys together. At that point, the guys were able to coach themselves to the end.

I agree we have compelling talent, but we are absolutely awful in the X's and O's department. This is “coaching.” What would this team look like with a different coach with a better offensive? Instead of trying to run an offensive through one player. If we had a moving offensive with spacing, this would be a different looking team. Everyone would be successful and able to contribute on offensive. It opens the floor for more drives, assist and better shot selection. Until Texas get another coach(S) who has a better offense, sorry but nothing is going to change.

I think Terry will get another season. It would be very poor optics to give him only one full season.
I think next season will be worse than this season.
And then CDC will make a hire.

There just aren't a lot of guys that any AD trusts at the midmajor level right now, which means you're basically throwing $millions at a proven guy and paying his buyout. Lord help us if we promoted Haith or Ogden.

Lots of baggage with Drew, of course he won't have to cheat with NIL and the fact that it is "TEXAS".

He entered the Baylor job when the "basketball crowd" was running Baylor. They are from the 58-63 and are mostly gone now. That could help sway him.

Im not defending Beard for dating a crazy person and getting into a fight with her, but he's coaching in the SEC right now and I doubt the players playing for him or the administration currently supporting and paying him have any misgivings about it. It's still TBD if he will achieve success there, but Texas decided to let him go in favor of a career .500 coach. It is what it is. CDC has crushed it overall so I guess he will swallow it with basketball for another season. Yay...

I don’t believe Terry will be the longhorns coach next season. I can’t imagine going through another season like the one we’re having now. It will definitely be worse.
RT will only be back if CDC is unable to get the person he wants.

I am actually interested in stealing Tech's coach (again).

One, the middle finger factor (to both Tech and the Big XII) would be off the charts. But more importantly, McCasland can coach. He's under 50 and has been a winner everywhere he has gone. I'd much rather have him than any slimeball with the last name of Drew.

I think there would be mutual interest as well. He was at the top of my list when the Beard saga was unfolding. His buyout is hovering around $10MM right now, which could be a bit of a problem among the BMD's who aren't getting bang for their Moody Center buck right now.

I understand, but what has McCasland won on the national level? Also, Tceh has participated in two on-the-court fights in the last month or so. That doesn't speak well for discipline and culture.

Given that McCasland coached at UNT, Arkansas State, Midwestern State, and Midland College before arriving in Lubbuttock I don't expect lots of NCAA hardware.

But what he does have is:
1 NIT title at UNT
2 NCAA Div2 Elite Eight appearances (both at Midwestern State)
1 NJCAA runner-up
1 NJCAA Natty

He has won consistently at every level he has coached. He has never had a losing season (the closest he came was a 20-18 record his first year with the Mean Green). I don't know enough about the fights you reference to argue whether or not they were reflective of the culture he establishes, but he has Tech ranked in the top 10.

All in all, he has a fairly long history of success, and I think it's enough to have him under serious consideration as a replacement for Terry.

As for BMDs and the Moody Center "investment", I think you will find the financial arrangements of that building very interesting and a monument to CDC's intelligence and ability to get things done.

Apparently Jai Lucas has a deal in place with Miami to go be their next HC as soon as the season ends. That one is kind of intriguing.

He has been in charge of running the scout team for Duke this year, and word is that their prep work has been even tougher against themselves than it has been against the real opponents. He's well-respected in the SEC and ACC circles already. He was also one of the guys Smart kept when Barnes left. There's something to him and I hope Miami doesn't get instant success if we're still middling.

I just saw that he still has us in with his updated rankings. We won't be an easy 10 seed and if Terry somehow wins a couple of games in the tourney he is going to be hard to cut lose and we will get another year of the same, or even worse without Tre on this team next year.

Man I love RT. Such a solid human being and a helluva recruiter, one of the best in the game even. But some guys are just not CEO material. I’d love to see him stay on staff as an ambassador - he has coached a lot of good years on the 40.
