New Jersey Governor Chris Christie

Cutting budgets takes very strong pollitical willpower. Christie and his ilk are sadly lacking in Washington, but the last elections indicated that this could be changing. Time will tell.

Until he comes out four square against evolution he has no future in the republican party. He has dodged the question so far. The beast must be fed.

Seems that he was elected governor as a Republican so I think politically he's done ok for himself.

moron, spanish for pig.

so maybe.

But the fact is that most of the republican candidates have indicated they don't believe in global warming or evolution. IT is a tight spot. Lots of the most motivated base is of the idiot denomination of fundamental christianity and believe the theory of evolution is commie drivel. IT is a litmus test for them. Christie was asked the question and got ticked off but instead of saying what he thought he just blew it off.

He will be asked again. The easy thing is to do what Romney does, and just tell them what they want to hear. If he is half as candid as advertised, he will tell them to read a book besides the bible.

Yeah... none of what you just wrote did anything to prove your point or make it any less moronic. I get that you view Christianity through a lens that allows you to filter out anything you can't make fun of, but I have an idea - if this is so inevitable as you say, then let's just wait and see if it happens.

If more than a small minority ends up crucifying a potential candidate for his stand on evolution, then you feel free to tell me I'm wrong.

BTW I think it's fun how the moderators on this site apparently think that as long as someone's a fundamentalist Christian (whatever that means in your eyes) it's ok to insult their intelligence and basically call them whatever name you want to call them.

You folks should study the polical history of our Dear Leader and look at when and why Christianity became important to him.

Pot, meet Kettle.

I did not mean to ridicule the bible, which I read regularly and believe is the most important book or set of books in history.

Nor do I think deep religiosity is something to be sneered at; the two most important people in my life are/have been very religiously oriented. They also read books besides the bible and understood that much of it is the mythology of a bronze age people who did not have the advantage of modern science and had to try to figure things out via other means.

Christie reacted in a very irate way when questioned about evolution. He clearly thought it was a stupid question he should not have to be answering. I agree with him. There are a lot of compromises politicians have to make to get elected. All those democrats have to act like abortion is the coolest thing since anti biotics. For example. They have to act like affirmative action is holy writ from the constitution. If they don't, they are toast.

That is why I brought up the bit about Christie and evolution. I love listening to the guy because of his abrupt, in your face manner. Even if I don't agree with him much of the time, I find that refreshing. But when he steps to the larger stage he is going to have to deal with the fact that a sizable proportion of the really active republican base is bonkers on the subject of religion. And he will have to make a series of choices based on what they want to hear.

Good luck to him.

Now that Romney has said he thinks global warming is real and is caused in part by human activity I guess I owe him an apology.

I'm sorry. And I thought your dad was the preferable republican candidate in '68

Absolutely outstanding points by Christie.

Truly, why in the hell is Obama drawing a paycheck? In the heat of the negotiations on the budget this summer, he sent in Biden and started a f-ing Twitter campaign. Really?

“It consists half of people who think like Michele Bachmann and half of people who are afraid of losing a primary to people who think like Michele Bachmann,” he said, “and that leaves very little room to work things out.”

It's more like 2% of the crowd that thinks like bachman and 98% that are afraid to lose a primary and get a real job making 1/2 what they are making now with no pension and 8 times the work.
