NCAA Tournament Bracket (take 2)

Damn that 30-0 run from UConn was crazy. Game was tied at 23. UConn scored 5 to close the half and then scored the first 25 pts of 2nd half. Not sure I have ever seen anything like that in a tournament matchup outside of a lopsided first round match up.

The farthest west team left is Tennessee, I think
Two of the final four (Purdue and Bama) are west of Knoxville. Also, Illinois is west of there (but they were out by the time you posted).

That said, your broader point remains valid -- the surviving teams have a decidedly eastern bias.

I suppose I should pull out a map sometimes. Many US Americans don’t have maps….

I’ve actually been to Knoxville, and it is a long way east of Memphis, as I should have remembered.

20% of the starters in the UConn-Bama game are Texans. I don’t follow recruiting enough to know if we pursued these two guys. But it’s disappointing nevertheless that these two aren’t Longhorns.

There has been some oddly sloppy basketball today at times from all four teams. Players stumbling around, can’t control their dribble, two over-and-backs within like 2-3 possessions, air ball threes, too many missed layups to count, odd body control, etc. It’s been a lot of junk from all teams.

I wonder how much depth perception/jitters playing in a football stadium played into these issues. It's gotta be wild being on that court in that cave of an arena packed with cameras everywhere. Surreal.

Perhaps, but he gave UConn at least a dozen points in about a 6 minute stretch of the second half.

For sure. I understand the shooting aspect. That happens often, if not every final four. But I wonder if there was something wrong with the court. So many different players from all four teams were slipping on nothing and stumbling around like toddlers. Also I remember a few instances where players would just lose the ball like they’re just learning to dribble. All of that happened way more than normal today. Just my observation.

I am not a Sears fan in any way; however, I would trade Asmas or Hunter for Sears in a heartbeat. If we could get Bama to accept that we would have gone to the elite 8 again this season.
