NCAA Tournament 2022

For about a ten minute stretch there in the Utah game, we shot 100% going 16 for 16 from the middle of 2Q to the middle of 3Q. AMo is instant offense and Matharu is definitely back. I want to remind everyone that while Vic is always known for his lockdown defense, the teams he took to the Final Four were also known for their lights out offense.

The SEC teams are folding quicker than my dry cleaners. Ole Miss, Kentucky, Florida, Arkansas, and Georgia are out. Here’s hoping the LSU Tigers are next.

It was a great crowd. Loud, standing, cheering. Texas better watch out - next thing you know we will have a home court advantage.
Keep winning Big XII championships and advancing deep into the NCAA'S and the fan base will continue to build. The new facilities at the Moody Center should help also.

Attendance at the FEC yesterday was 4,960
My season tickets were bottom section next to the tunnel where the players came in and out. With the extra attendance plus people moved from their regular seats for the tournament, the section was full for the first time in I can’t remember. For this last game, the players got an experience that was normal even near the end of Coach Conradt’s tenure. A full crowd on both sides of the tunnel stood and cheered as the players ran in and out. Many kids (always some) lined up to slap the players hands after the game. Aaliyah Moore appeared to have a great time. She took selfie after selfie with kids’ phones on her way out. I loved it. Also enjoyed my partner complaining about the young women in front of us standing almost the whole game. We had moved over to some empty Arkie seats. Told my partner this is what the program wants and needs. I joked we need age based seating sections. We were able to move.

It isn't quite on par with the OU Crying Kid, but this certainly hits top five :)

What a glorious Monday! Life is simply better when you get to revisit yesterday’s fun. I’m gonna watch it all again before lunch. Reminds me of the early 90s when Cowboys were winning 3 Super Bowls. Everyone feels better after those type days. Go back and watch the presser and really look at the kids faces and body language. Moore and Harmon are two of the most photogenic and charismatic kids we’ll get to enjoy for next 3 years. Matharu was giddy and we got a chance for first time to realize she is funny and has some really good thoughts/expressions. I loved that Schaefer gave the media coordinator fits a couple of times about limiting his questions/answers to two. Realize the other team was waiting to be interviewed but this shouldn’t be limited much. As Schaefer said….it is to celebrate a Sweet Sixteen berth. Now I can really enjoy the slate of games on today. On a more personal note…..my early season concerns about Moore were some of my more idiotic recent ones. My wife observed that it was only about number 8 in a list of hundreds.

Since Utah had to catch a plane, I don't know why they didn't go first to the press conference. Utah was probably ready to get out of town and Vic could have taken more questions.

That hurts my knees and ankles. I worry snout Schaefer’s blood pressure. Of course he’s REAL young too. I love how Blair tries to calm him down. It works….sometimes.

Where is presser?
TYIA
Someone posted Vic's press conference one "page" back in this thread. You have to skip ahead a few minutes from the start to see him and the players get seated.

Danny Davis had tweeted that the Utah's coach was going to get the short end of the stick for her press conference because:
1. Losing coach goes second
2. Vic can go on for hours when asked a question
3. Utah had a plane to catch!

Here's Utah:

The Utah coach and players were really good in presser. Good thoughtful respectful answers. The coach projected Stanford beats Texas as they have now figured out the point guard position. Can’t argue but hope that game happens.

My main concern right now is getting past the Sweet 16 against whomever the opponent will be. I'd really like to see us AT LEAST prove our #2 seed was no fluke. Should we get there, an Elite 8 matchup against whichever team wins between Stanford and Maryland would be very interesting, as we beat both of those teams when were heavily unfavored to win. I'm sure both would love another shot at us. I ain't scared....

Well, lots of basketball to play before then. Stanford will have a rematch against high-scoring Maryland on Friday night.

Did ya’ll notice Moore use her left hand. Natural …..and needed to keep bigger posts from blocking. Her mid-range shots looks perfect and with confidence. Did we just see Matharu become an unselfish point guard….Schaefer even mentioned her turning down a layup to try for a dime. That’s a tremendous weapon as a change of pace. Anybody concerned about Harmon’s limps in last couple games? The Utah coach was shocked at our shooting. Said they wanted to stop the drive/rim game snd BTA game…and make us shoot long mid-range. Good strategy but we hit everything. Random Musings.

To be fair, Matharu's wit, charm, sense of humor, and personality has been on display many times before yesterday's presser. Just depends on how many post-game radio interviews, and other video pressers you've watched. Who can forget her infamous facial expression when Vic used some quirky analogy about a ripe tomato?
