NCAA Regionals Thread

Bottom 10th craziest i've seen in a while: Horns throw out runner sliding into 3rd after wild throw to 1st went to the outfield (trying to hold runner). Then the batter hits one to wall after error by LF and the batter gets thrown out at home by inches. Turns out batter is fastest player on field. Amazing. Horns should have lost twice in that inning.

Horns win! 5-3. Cantu gets a clutch hit to atone for 2 defensive mistakes. Next batter Jones drives in 2 runs.

Amazing game. Horns have a real shot at Omaha. Playing with real grit now.

Bad News Bears strategy. Boot it around, throw them out. I hope it's not a strategy we use again.

I am a little confused by the schedule. The elimination game starts at 1 (west coast time) and 7. Should texas lose the 7:00 game, surely they wouldn't start a second game at 10:00 at night?

The NCAA schedule shows a game tomorrow at 10p our time should the Horns lose today. Can't figure out why they would play the game so damned late.

Wow, the 8 SEC teams in the tourney are 12-3 so far with only Miss St losing their first game and two 3 seeds winning their first two games. Spare me the "easy regional" or "favorable seeing" BS, that's impressive.

Ok, so earlier post in this thread (and getting a bit ahead of us, but what the hell) suggested if, IF, the Horns take the regional, since Stanford is out, the No.1 seed of the opposing super regional round, Horns might get to host the super regional IF they qualify.

Question: CSF won that regional, supplanting Stanford, CSF was a No.2 seed in that regional. Texas is a No.2 seed in their regional.

What is the deciding criteria as to who hosts in that case?

What I could find, but not sure if it is entirely correct:

If the National Seed loses in the Regional round, then the surviving teams from that bracket "bid" to serve as the home site. (In effect, the team with the better facilities will probably be chosen to host.) The team with the winning bid gets to host all three games (if necessary), but may not be the "home team" (in terms of batting last) for all three games. If a third game is needed in that situation, they flip a coin to determine which team will be the "home team."

Have any of you been to Fullerton? It's on either the 55 pr 57 freeway (I get them confused). Driving by, it looks like a shopping center, complete with big marquee sign showing "today's specials". Better than Irvine only because Fullerton has some trees, and Irvine is built in a strawberry patch (literally). I can't imagine the NCAA would give them a Super, but then again look at the committee, which includes:

1) AD at Elon College
2) AD at Illinois State (anyone know where that is or the mascot?)
3) Commissioner of the northeastern conference (Yes, apparently there really is a northestern conference. Can anyone name any member?)
4) VT AD Babcock, who didn't know he had a baseball team until he got picked for the committee.

That collection of clowns may send us to play in Iraq. The NCAA at its finest. The selection and seeding committee is made up of a group of people who haven't watched a single college baseball game, know nothing about the teams, and are totally dependent on Stat 310 students to give them suggestions.

Oklahoma getting steamrolled in their elimination game by....wait for it.....waaaaaait for it......Xavier 10-0 in the 5th inning!

It's 2:01pm.......

Sam Houston is spanking Arizona 7-0 in their elimination game. They are having a very respectable showing in the tourney this year. They already beat Zona once to put them in the losers bracket.

OUsux is now down 11-0 coming to their final three outs.

Edit: Sam is now leading 9-0!

#2 seed Baylor 2 & BBQ
#3 seed Okie Light 2 & BBQ
#2 seed OU sux gone in three, crushed 11-1/11-0 in two losses
#2 seed WVU must win two, unlikely, against Wake
#1 seed TCU playing second round winners bracket, likely super
#1 seed Tech cruising to a super

Then there's good ole Texas who many here had written off as non qualifier just four weeks ago only needs one win out of two to most likely host a super. I like our odds!
