NBA talk

B Diddy won't be able to post up Kidd, that is hilarious. Kidd may have slipped quickness wise a little, but he is still as smart a player as ever and his understanding of positioning and playing angles on defense is as good as anyone playing the PG position. He will help against GS, who may or may not even make the playoffs.

The Suns are done. They will probably make the playoffs and will probably still be a high seed but that team is gonna fall fast, Nash is not gonna get younger, their entire management still does not seem to understand the notion of getting a quality backup to spell Nash. They shouldn't have traded Marion. If anything they should have traded for Jason Williams and his ridiculous contract. Someone that can keep the pace and tempo up when Nash sits. Shaq is not the answer. They came close to beating the Spurs playing their style and the only reason they didn't was because of a terrible rule which they broke so they were punished accordingly.

Paul is not the next Isiah. He's going to be better. If he has to spend his entire career playing in front of 20 people its going to be the biggest travesty the NBA has ever had. David Stern needs to allow the Hornets to move otherwise we are gonna miss out on watching a guy who could possibly be one of the best PG's of all time.

Cleveland is far better than Orlando. Howard is great but he is still turnover prone when double teamed, his FT shooting is suspect at best, and they have no PG. Nelson is a good player but he is not going to win them a title. The same can be said about the Cavs except they have Lebron who can handle the ball and create for everyone else. Wallace will be re-energized by his trade to Cleveland. He hasn't been trying all season.

I will ahead and say the Celtics won't end up winning a title with The Big 3 they have. They will get lucky to get to the conference finals.

Here's my take. First, I'm a huge Rockets fan, as some of you know, and even write TheDreamShake blog

The West, because I don't care about the East

1. Utah - I hate writing this more than you can imagine, but they are really good, have a great PF and a great PG, sounds familiar to the old days with them
2. San Antonio - They have started to put the pieces back together again
3. LA - Kobe finally got some players around him
4. Houston - Check the blog *******
5. New Orleans - They are young enough that they have no clue they aren't supposed to kick *** in the playoffs
6. Dallas - They just made a terrible trade in my opinion, I think they will still play well, but something isn't there. And to be fair, I have only watched them play NO. I'm not a Dallas hater at all either, I really like Dirk, and Avery. And I love Mark Cuban
7. Phoenix - Good night sweetheart, the worst trade I've seen in years
8. Golden State - Don't play a lick of D, but they are a lot of fun to watch
9. Denver - No team chemistry, even worse team defense

Worst NBA Power Rankings ever:

ESPN's Hollinger's NBA Power Rankings

Has Toronto Raptors ahead of both the Rockets and Spurs. I know that there's a note saying that this is completely based on a formula. If that's the case, the formula needs to be revised. I guess this is ESPN's version of the BCS.

The Hornets may surprise some people in the playoffs. I'm not saying I'd expect them to get to the WCF but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. The difference between them and a lot of other younger teams that make the playoffs and then get bounced even though they should be able to compete is that Chris Paul is the best player at his position right now and HE KNOWS how good he is and how good his team is. Don't sleep on New Orleans just because of experience.

Lakers are #1 IMO. I'm not a huge Laker fan, but I am a huge fan of Kobe. He's the best player in the game right now. Lebron is not far behind but Kobe is still ahead. They added Pau and gave up nothing. Adding Pau lets Odom move to his more natural SF position and should help him out. When Bynum comes back this team is gonna be scary good. Not only is the starting 5 talented, they are deep, athletic, and experienced.

I know most would say the Spurs are the team to beat in the West but with Horry, Finley and Bowen all playing major minutes their chances take a big hit. They need to start bringing over some of these younger guys they have stashed in Europe soon.

Chris Paul needs to do miraculous things in big games and the playoffs for 6-8 years for him to be compared to Isiah Thomas. Anything else falls woefully short. I'm not asking him to win an NBA title since his team is not the 80s Pistons but show some HOF action then we can talk seriously about being compared to one of the top 10 point guards in basketball history.

If you think Paul is overrated you either don't like him, haven't been watching or are just ignorant. He's the best PG in the league. Can shoot it, can get into the lane and finish with the best of them, can rebound extremely well for a guy that is 6-1 on a good day. Plays the passing lanes well and b/c he is so quick doesn't usually get beat off the dribble. The only thing is his size doesn't allow him to guard guys like Williams, Kidd, Billups, and Davis but at the same time those guys have trouble with him because they can't match his quickness or speed.

best PG in the NBA? Steve Nash, previously thought Parker but Nash can run a system better although Parker is unstoppable in the clutch.

see you in the playoffs

I remembered that one of the posters here said Chris Paul couldnt guard Deron Williams.

Considering that Paul dropped 24 pts, 16 ast and 5 stl with ONE turnover on Williams last night I am not sure that Paul has the problem.

That was some game. Does NO lack the experience to make the same noise during the playoffs that they are now? Right now, probably.

CP 08 - 20/10/3...Hornets 7-3 vs. Spurs, Suns & Lakers. Good guard play, decent post men, good bench.
