Nadal loses at Frech

Roger holds serve. A little shaky but gets it done.

Then fights back and holds service. 3-3 now.

Roger's groundstrokes have gotten a little off track this set. At the same time Soderling has gotten more serves in and gotten his game going just a bit.

Starting to sprinkle just a bit. Type of match where I would hate to see a rain delay.

Rogers gets it done in the 2nd set and wins easily in the tiebreak.

Now 2-1 in the 3rd set with Soderling about to take a shot at a break point.

Roger makes quick work of that break chance. Deuce now.

Roger can take his game to new levels when he needs to. That is what makes him so great.

Federer holds serve. Up 3-1 in 3rd set.

Soderling looking good and likely to hold his serve here.

This match looks like a hard court match. with the new ball it doesn't even look like a French Open match.

Federer wins!!!!!

Career Grand Slam!!!!

14th Major!!!!

Roger now has a career that has no question marks or asterisks. He has done it all.

You can also say that is the best player on clay this year. Beating Nadal in Madrid and now winning the French. He'll be back to #1 in the world after Wimbledon.

Yes!!!! Congrats to Fed on making history...hope to see him win a few more and distance himself from Pete to solidify his spot as greatest ever.

I have learned to say that Federer can only be one of the all-time greats. You just can't compare these guys to guys of other generations. He is the best of his generation and one of the top 4 of all-time. But you can't rank those top 4 past that.

Federer
Sampras
Borg
Laver

What about Andre? Personally, I think he deserves some consideration as one of the greatest of all time. 8 grand slam titles and the career slam...pretty impressive resume.

He was the 2nd best player of his generation. Sampras had the edge on him overall. Agassi was a better all surface player and had a better return of serve. But Sampras was a better serve and volley player which gave him the edge on grass. HIs huge serve gave him the advantage on hard court. Hard to try and put yourself up there as one of the best ever when you aren't the best of your generation.

You could put Lendl and McEnroe ahead of Agassi in many books.
