Moses was high on drugs: Israeli researcher

Thanks, iceberg!

Did you happen to catch the article by Steven Pinker on morality? It was in the NYT mag about a month ago. Also very interesting.

Should we extract this drug enhanced God interaction to the rest of the prophets and early fore-fathers of Judaism in the Old Testament. Nice try to cherry pick one experience. You need to look at this as a whole, of how Jews and Christians believe their God interacted with followers at that point in history. There must of been a lot of doobie smokin in the OT.

Perham, I had not seen that, but will make it a point to read it later, maybe this evening if I have the time. Thanks for sharing.

UTIceberg, I read that article. It had some great ideas and theories behind what causes a human to have a innate desire to fill a void in their life, and why that more often than not ends up being a religion or superstition of some sort.

I wonder though, if you take all the evidence before you in that article and apply Occam's Razor to it (since it was brought up), what explanation you might come up with.

Perham, the suggested point of whether God really didn't speak to Moses is moot, for lack of a better way to put it, for a person of faith. It's taken on faith that God did indeed speak to Moses. And I agree, it's bothersome for me as well to a certain extent when Christians use empericism to prove our faith (although I think the number who do is a small percentage of Christians worldwide).
