Miami Regional

Called strike 3--a good half foot above the zone. Miami wins 8-5.

Walters threw 49 pitches. He's probably only good for 3 innings against us.
It will be Geno vs Walters tonight in 7-9 innings.

It’s a little odd that a bang bang play can get reviewed but a terrible strike call cannot.

One argue all they want, but an unearned out is the same no matter how it occurs.

We'll probably see Torres, Lequerica, and Walters. Decent enough, but not super good, except for Walters. Walters threw 49 pitches today, so he's probably only good for 3 more innings. If we were to lose the 1st game, they probably won't get to use Walters again in the final game.

Also, our Coaches need to really do some coaching here and get our power hitters prepared to tee off on Walters' rising fastballs high in the zone. One Cajun showed how to do it. We've got 4-5 legit power hitters.

Torres: 4.89 ERA, 1.13 WHIP

Lequerica: 3.92 ERA, 1.14 WHIP

These are some decent numbers. These guys aren't anything special on the stats sheet, but they don't suck. Good WHIPs, so not too many base runners...

Baseball

We could also see more of Chestnutt, but his numbers aren't so good.

Chris Scinta 3.78 ERA 1.48 WHIP

Any one guy may not go more than 3 innings or so...

The options they have are mostly pretty mediocre (other than Walters). I would think we'll see Lequerica, he's not bad at all on the stats sheet.

I know LBJ was amazing last night but does anyone else wish he hadn’t been left in the game to throw 130 pitches? He seems to have a career beyond the college game and I would hate to see him have arm trouble down the road. No one game is worth that.

I don’t follow college pitch counts like some of you guys do so i might be totally off base but just putting my 2 cents out there.
Interesting point. I'm kinda selfish so my opinion doesn't count.

If Miami loses the first game, they'll go to South Beach to drown their sorrows.

If U. La. loses the first game, they'll go to Yeehaw Junction to drown their sorrows.

I guess there's gonna be a serious Fais Do Do in Yeehaw Junction, Florida tonight where the Cajuns can drink and dance away their sorrows.

Not worried one bit, LBJ hasn't pitched that much all season, he has a very fresh arm.

Gainesville is in a rain delay (about 4 hours North). S. Florida looks ok for now, so it looks like we're going forward in Coral Gables.

After starting out behind, he gets a hard ground ball to 1st base, Thomas makes the play for out number 1

that bad call has repercussions, Witt had to throw it over the plate, the hitter got a good bat on it, but it was caught right at the wall by EK. and Witt strikes out the last one. end of the inning. 0-0
