Manchester United 2007-2008 Season Thread

United ran riot, albeit against an incredibly unsettled and likely unfocused team.

Chelsea is starting to worry me. They don't appear to be going anywhere and Anelka was a very solid acquisition.

Definitely a three-horse race now as Liverpool has descended into a bizarre soap opera.

ttt

it's been a fun season....devils in a good position right now, but lots can happen over the coming weeks.

Glory Glory Man United!

Ryan freakin' Giggs! Fox Soccer was showing a Man U classic game from the fall of 94 a week or two ago..... and Giggs was playing in that game.

Talk about some staying power... Wow. The guy still has it.

I can finally now post without fear of jinxing the team this season.

The Final was a tense affair. United dominated the first 40 or so minutes and could have been up 3 to nil. A double deflection led to Chelsea's goal. Chelsea then dominated the 2nd half with Drogba hitting the post. Giggs was robbed by Terry. United was stronger in Extra Time, but Lampard was unlucky to hit the crossbar. Finally in the end, luck was on United's side as Terry pulled a Beckham and slipped at the crucial moment.

So I think any United fan has to be thrilled with the season. A Champions League and League double. Ronaldo had 42 goals. Tevez, Anderson, Nani, and Hargreaves all contributed in the Final and throughout the season. Giggs is still playing at an acceptable level.

I fear Neville may be done. Saha is probably gone. Pique might return to Spain. Silvestre will likely head to France. So I'm guessing a right back and a striker will come in. There are two Brazilian fullback twins arriving next season, but I'm not sure one of them can push for Neville/Brown's job.

So now it is 17 and 3. Will Sir Alex stay around for 19? Can this young team win another Champions League title in the next two years?

"My greatest challenge is not what's happening at the moment, my greatest challenge was knocking Liverpool right off their ******* perch. And you can print that."

Sometimes I wish Mack had a little Sir Alex in him.
