Maalik and Johntay

Arch can play in up to four games and keep his redshirt and hasn't played in any yet, so if he needs to be used the next two weeks in any kind of role in game there is no consequence for his redshirt.
We should definitely give Malik a fair shot to show up in game action. He throws hard, too hard, but that can be managed with enough reps. As for as Arch, my biggest concern is lack a Power 5 game speed experience. However good a HS quarterback might be, he has played at HS speed and passes into 2-3 foot windows. At UT he can expect to throw into 6-8 inch windows with DBs that have rocket closing speed. He will get it eventually. Perhaps even quickly. But give Malik a chance. As far as Archs redshirt, does anybody have an illusion that he will take a shirt and play for 4 years? If he is what we think, he will be gone after 3 years, red shirt or not.

I am not at all confident about Murphy. I will be surprised if he has a good game this coming Saturday.
call me cynical.
After watching clips of Malik’s spring game performance I’m feeling better.
His ability to scramble with speed and power plus Sark scheming aQB option into the playbook will help put points on the board.

Ok so it’s just HS but the kid has an arm and dramatic arm strength. Key imo is going to be does OL step up and give him time. Watching this highlights make me wonder why he has not gotten more playing time but I have to remember wasn’t QE the #1 rated qb in his class?

Yes, QE was the #1 recruit and first 100 rated recruit since VY.
Murphy has also dealt with injuries ever since he got here.
This is his first healthy season.

I have high hopes that the kid performs well. I will say I am very comfortable with him since he's been here awhile, didn't leave even though you know he had offers to do so. I think we're lucky to have him. Hopefully I feel that same way come Saturday night.

Malik throws a John Elway velocity bullet. He could work a good short passing game and hit some out patterns that require a strong arm. We may also see the Colt McCoy style quick slants reenter our playbook.

He can throw the ball REAL deep, but I’m not sold on his downfield accuracy yet. Sark will have to mix it up and play to Malik’s strengths.

Expect a few drops each game as high velocity passes are tougher to catch and can hit an unready receiver.

I don't think Peyton did, but he didn't play much at first because Brandon Stewart beat him out until a "little birdie" explained to Cut how the cow ate the cabbage.

Arch can step on the field 4 times without burning a redshirt.
