LSU wants game at Reliant and against AM or UT

Texas schools should just tear down their home stadiums and let all surrounding states play us at neutral sites within our borders. We can let them pass out letters of intent at halftime.

Wow the logic here that LSU is a no-name program in Houston/East Texas is mind-numbingly idiotic.

LSU doesn't go hard after too many guys other than the must-get 5-stars and the 3-stars who get recruited by A&M and other Big 12 programs. 90% of their recruiting focus is in-state and regional within the SEC.

To base your schedule on a recruiting myth is laughable.

Do you really think Joe 4-star from Houston doesn't know who LSU is until they play UT in Houston? I guess LSU's 2 BCS titles in the last 5 years has kept them from really being on the radar.

I can really only think of Ryan Perrilloux and Martellus Bennett being a recruit who UT and LSU really fought tooth and nail for. Obviously, Perrilloux is from the state of LA. which makes it a moot point to some degree. Moreover, wouldn't it be better to lose a recruit to LSU than to OU or A&M?

Basically the company line here seems to state. "Let's schedule Rice every year to ensure that we keep maybe 1 recruit a year away from LSU."

the Ags won't do it because we'll have our game against the pigs in Jerry World. Our out of conference schedule will look something like this in the future

La Tech
Montana St
Arkie
SMU

I think giving a school like Georgia "presence" in Houston would be more damaging than doing so with LSU. They already recruit Houston hard -- adding that game won't change the situation much.

LSU recruits Houston very well already. Texas beating LSU would help us draw more recruits in Louisiana, I think we have more to gain then they do, and we should defenitely do this.

I vote yes to playing LSU. I have long thought teams play up to or down to their competition, playing and beating North Texas the week before OU does nothing but give the team a false view of how good it is.

I personally would love to see this game. My initial thoughts were that the negatives clearly outweigh the positives, but I've sort of come around on this matchup since they have won 2 titles recently. I think the ratings would be through the roof nationally and very high in the southeast and southwest. I do understand that the potential for opening new recruiting inroads for the tigers, but I think we can hold our own. Hell, its not like they don't already go head-to-head with us in East Texas. Unless we get beat bad I don't think it really hurts us - which I don't think will happen. In reality, what probably happens is we win our home game against them and they win their home game against us. Also, I think the thing we too often overlook is that anytime we play a high-quality pre-conference opponent we get a big boost from it, even if we lose. How much better prepared would we be for the big game in Dallas next year if we took on and won or even lost to LSU? I understand in many years the name of the game is to go undefeated, but the pollsters are smart enough to know an early season loss to an LSU/USC/tOSU/Florida is still better than playing and beating a bunch of patsies.

Some people don't understand that the athletic department doesn't run on puppies and smiles. Losing a home game means losing a lot of money. So which athletic programs are you going to cut to schedule this game?

We already play the best neutral-site game in college football.

But I'd love to see LSU on the schedule for a home-and-home.

i say schedule them. anyone who was in columbus knows how awesome it is to play big-time schools. it is what college football is all about. many on this board criticize recruits who shy away from a school based on competition at a certain position. THE UNIVERSITY shouldn't shy away from any competition. we shouldn't be afraid to schedule anyone. and yes, lsu already recruits Houston damn hard, and yes, houston kids are well aware of lsu. schedule the tigers.

No. If they want to play us it needs to be in Austin. The only reason they want it at reliant is because it would take away home field advantage for the horns, and to tap into Texas recruiting. Our recruits already leave for OU, OSU, and Arky we don't need a new pipeline to LSU. Home and home is fine by me. Other wise the tigers can geaux **** themselves...

For all you geniouses worried about LSU recruiting in Texas. Matt Flynn starting QB- TX kid

Don't act like LSU never recruits TX already, the naivete of this argument is laughable.

UT would be foolish to play one game vs. LSU at a neutral site anywhere in Texas. I'm an Aggie, and this is the same general thing they've been requesting from us over the last few years - one game deals played either in Baton Rouge or Houston; or a multi-year deal with alternating games in Baton Rouge and Houston. It just indicates to me that they don't feel like they are dealing with equals, or think that A&M & UT are a bunch of idiots.

If they want to resume a series with A&M or start one with UT, it should be on an equal basis with home games on both campuses.

I believe that the donors would not object, so long as Foundation members get their OU preferences applied to this game.

It would kick all kinds of ***. People tend to forget that probably 30,000 (or more) of UT's home crowd comes in from outside of Austin. I come from Dallas. It's no worse for me to drive to Houston. Austinites - as Mac said it isn't a hard drive for you guys either. Tailgate scene outside of Reliant would be awesome. I am for it.
