LSU @ Texas 2/16/25

Check out this box score... Almost dead even all the way across, Except for our 21 for 21 from the free throw line! I think our shooting was not that great during the game, because we are still a little tired-legged like we were against Kentucky, hence all the missed shots. But we toughed it out and bow we get a much needed eight day break!! I know Vic will give them two days off, I hope it might be three. They have EARNED some much needed rest. 🤘

Probably the most incredible single week in the history of Texas Basketball women's or men's. What a game and what a second-half comeback. There are seven teams that can win the NC this year and Texas is solidly in that group and definitely trending as one of the top two or three favorites.

Anytime mulkey loses its a good day. She is a very good coach but a very unlikeable person it would appear. This was a monster win and with Booker having an awful scoring game. If she just has a halfway descent game, this is a blowout for the horns. Much respect for this team. I have seen several comments about Carlton and just want to add she played a great game!!!

Given the team has just defeated 4 top 25 teams, with 3 of those being top 10, in the span of less than 2 weeks says they must be pretty, pretty good.
 
Congratulations to Justice. She got the call to start a game that I am quite sure she did not expect, and she took full advantage by playing at a level that we have not seen her play since we entered the SEC games. She got her hands in passing lanes, she pulled down rebounds, she made her free throws, and while she wasn't perfect, she proved to 10k fans, and more importantly to herself, that she belongs on this team when she decides to play at the level that a top 5 team has to play at. Now put your head down girl and do it every day in practice. If we have ALL THREE of our freshman coming in and playing meaningful minutes as we come down the stretch and into tournament time, we are only the better team for it. I'm really so proud of every one of them right now. I just love this team so much. Hook'em!
 
Various thoughts:
1. The corner and one section of Moody on the LSU side of the bench was heavily LSU fans. To the point that after every run of points, they would be chanting L-S-U, L-S-U, L-S-U! Ugh. The only way to shut them up was when we took the lead.

2. When we scored 6 points to start the third and Mulkey took a time out, I told my seat neighbor, "Something that Vic can do that Karen could never was adjust at the half"

3. And then when LSU went on a 6 point run, I thought, "Well, Mulkey is always adjusting and beating Texas with a lead"

4. After each of the inbound time violation Mulkey was screaming at the guard and motioning the shoulder time out signal. YOU SHOULD HAVE TAKEN A TIME OUT!!!!

5. As we were leaving, I was saying to my kid, "I can't wait to watch the LSU presser to see which kids Mulkey throws under the bus"

Justice had a great game considering how much her playing time fell off the last five games or so. Perhaps she's getting it now!:bevo:

We just played one of the toughest stretches that any team could be asked to play… four games over 10 days against 4 top 25 teams with the last three being a top 10 and two top 5s.

LSU had the week off.

In my personal opinion, what we just watched was a very tired team tough it out and wear down their opponent until the playing field was leveled… and then they played the final 4 minutes like champions.

It was hard to watch in the moment, but I’m not sure any of us was giving much thought to how much more rested LSU was to start this game.

Huge shout out to our freshman. Preston and Lee hit threes exactly when we needed them. And then there was little Miss Carlton stepping onto the big stage in a big way. You. Go. Girl.

Texas. Fight. 🫳🎤

Wow, wow, wow…. wow. I didn’t see that coming at halftime. Checked the score when I got back from my walk and you bet I went back and watched the second half. What a gritty win for the women, that was impressive. Just kept chipping away and playing hard. Even if I had doubts, they didn’t. And watching Mulkey stomping as they lost the lead was totally worth it.
 
I noticed the really close inter action with our players at presser among themselves and at giving credit to others. To me it shows a really close intertwined locker room. THAT can make a big difference in tourney time
