It was a great call. ( unlike the other 7 calls down there ) It wasn't executed perfectly.. The throw was not good... It was high and too far to Ingram's left shoulder, which probably caused the drop, as he had to turn his shoulders toward an on coming DB ( which Ingram looked at instead of looking the ball in ). If the throw had been away from the DBs and a tad lower like it should have been, he catches it and we score.
 
People need to chill with the okie st talk...and alot of other talk. Will their oline stand up against our rush like LSUs did? Will their qb have the game Burrow did? Will their defense be on par with the Tigers? Now, stay with me here...I'm not just talking about okie st....everything we've experienced the last decade.
Pretty soon the past will be nothing more than just that...I truly believe...not as a homer, but as a football observer and fan. Think we will continue to struggle with Kansas State? West Virginia look intimidating to you? TCU going to keep kicking our butt every year? Baylor or Iowa St. going to rise up?? Come on...open your eyes. Most of this is already fading into the past where it belongs. Same place OUs dominance of the Big12 is headed. Im not saying we are perfect...obviously not. I'm not saying we can't and won't be beaten.
But it's time we start being the fans, the program, and the team walking and talking like we expect to be on top.

Talent wise Texas is getting right there with the more elite teams in the nation.
I think when the coaches stop making decisions like they made on the goal line (aside from the pass to Ingram ), foolish clock managment with 1:45 left in a half after a failed 1st down, rushing only 3 with very late blitzes against a great QB, etc...etc... Fans will be able to have confidence in the team kicking *** and taking names. Until then fans will fear good teams....

OSU is loaded for bear on offense with great WRs, a stud RB, a good OL, and a dual threat QB and a system they have run for years....Worried about them ? I'd say so.

It’s crazy when fans think they know more than the coaching staff. It’s easy to armchair this game and critique this play or that play. We play Georgia and run the same plays, and we’re geniuses because we won. Bottom line, we are still a very young team that is a year away, and we still almost won the game. LSU was simply the more experienced team and it showed in key moments. Trust the coaching staff folks. We are getting close, just not quite there yet. I do love your enthusiasm though, just giving my two cents.

The elbow appeared to hit the ground first, causing the ball to come loose.
 
He got it; the problem was he stepped out of bounds and was the first Texas player to touch the ball after coming back in bounds.

What chaps me was the fumble that someone decided it was only a dropped pass. I would say they were looking at different views than we see.

I sold my ticket right before the game for $500 (could not turn that down) so I watched it on TV at our tailgate party. Clearly I saw stuff y'all did not see because our gang came back from the game with the same thoughts as you guys on these plays. Those thoughts are not correct.

Onside Kick: CJ did not control the ball to the ground - he had it in his hands but lost it when he hit the ground. By the time he got control of the ball, he was out of bounds.

Fumble: The ball you are saying was a fumble was not, and it was ruled a catch and down by contact on the field, which on replay, was the correct call. The receiver caught the ball, took 3-4 steps, then was tackled. When he went down, his elbow hit the ground and then the ball came out.

There were really no calls that I thought they got majorly wrong. There were some I thought in live action were not correct (roughing the passer, for example) but, when I saw the replays we got on TV, I agreed with the calls made on the field.

The refs were not the reason we lost this game.
 
On those 4th and 1 or less, I liked what we ran under Mack with a 300lb lineman to clear the way. Or sometimes put Sam under center with a 300lb dude to push him. Remember it took 4 plays to score against Georgia too. These teams built with SEC type lineman running slow developing plays is just more dangerous. Either get an extra blocker, or get a push one or the other. We're asking Sam to do too much.

Phil, the game ref announced what I wrote. That is why there was a 5 yard penalty for illegal touching accessed. It was a good call. I was yelling for him to get out of the way.

I agree with this 100 percent. I thought a lot of those calls were bad while watching from my seat but when I got home Sunday morning and the game was on LHN I saw the replays and different camera views. They got it right for the most part.

We actually caught a huge break on the 4th down Duverney TD. Our TE didn't just set a screen, but he had his hands up and was blocking. Could have easily called that offensive PI. Generally you have to act more like you are running a route which I didn't think he did.

i have no idea why we couldn’t sneak that from under center with Sam or at least give it a try. Reminds me of the 18 wheeler package swoopes was giant he can fall right into the goal line yet he took it from shotgun the majority of the time.

Exactly. Tom Brady says hi. Runs that under center sneak all the time.
 
I can say that I was impressed by both teams. My wife ruined the DVR for me telling me that Texas got beat in the car on the way home from Hamilton. I watched it anyway and came away not looking forward to October as much.
 
Fully agree with comments of Wadster and NM. Lot of couch coaches and Wadters reference to using 300 pounder to lead the way

Really humored with frustrated comments of M Green referring to Ingram as a db in his comments late Sunday.....not sure he ever caught that mistake.
 
Lost a lot of respect for lsu players faking injuries to slow us down. Their hurry up caught our D not being ready many times. We probably should have done the same to them. Should be a rule change, like sitting out a series or something. Apparently the aggies did the same, a sec thing? In addition, gave their receivers too much cushion, should have used better time management at end of 1st half, qb sneak under center, then we win the game. Proud of the effort and atmosphere.

Darn.

He's been one of my favorite players since his first snap on the 40. He's sort of our Jack Tatum (and I mean that in the best sense, not as a dirty player). He's really not that great of a coverage guy, but his vicious hard hitting and his mere presence back there intimidates many opposing receivers and takes them off their game. (and his highlights sure are fun to watch)

I nominate Angilau as the 300+ lb lineman to clear the way or push Sam forward.
 
utempire....better time management in 1st half may have helped but many other issues attributed to loss. Who knows what the result would have been if KI catches the ball or if Texas kicks field goals....but I liked the aggressive approach to go for it.
Score and ....who knows??
 
1) We are good and getting better.
2) I dislike the SEC even more than I did yesterday.
3) We need more healthy running backs.
4) aggy won’t beat LSU this year

I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't think putting the QB under center does anything, and in fact I think it makes it worse. Sam is effective because he hits the line, not because he pushes into it or tries to crawl over it. Taking the sneak under center takes away all forward momentum, and it only adds about a second to the play - which also removes the time for your blocker to push forward. If he can score by pushing forward from a standstill, he can score rushing straight ahead a half-second later.

If your o-line does the job, there is no advantage to lining up under center, and if it doesn't do the job, there's the disadvantage of a QB who has nowhere to go if the line gets pushed back and no forward momentum.

The fact is, we didn't execute it in the first half. We came right back to it in the third quarter and punched it in. Formation was not the issue. Poor execution along with a dropped pass and a fresh and fired up LSU front was the issue.

If you noticed the primary difference between Sam scoring in the third quarter and not scoring when his knee hit in the first quarter, that the second time, Sam turned his back to the play and pushed with his legs, knees pointed up. He wasn't going to let his knee accidentally hit the ground that time around, and he drove himself into the end zone.
