Lance giving up the fight against the USADA.

12 paragraphs to say:

Man sticks needles in his *** to cheat and win. Leans on team mates to similarly stick needles in their ***.

Fault - Congress.

I'm sure PSU/OU/OSU any other school caught cheating or covering things up has fans who could write the exact same thing - we cheated, but everyone cheats.

Again, a sad demise for the legions on Lance jock sniffers.

I confess to propensity for philosophy. It got me in trouble at The Tavern on many TGIFs. I'm notorious for blabber. I mean, I sit up at night reading Epictetus and am on second reading of all 14 James Bond books. So I will come across crazy at times.

I somehow saw irony in the whole mess, but seriously I am not fawning over Armstrong. The whole tour has turned out to be something of a joke, probably the most unclean sport of that visibility and notoriety of all time. I was just attempting to be philosophical about it. My friends call it "beer talk" and maybe it is.

Cannot see why a 'philosophical angle' on it is necessarily worshipping of Lance?

I considered it just being a wise man. Or, I guess in my case some would say being a wise ***.

The rationalizing that it's understandable and even acceptable, because others do it, says a lot about our society. That's some message to send to kids that see Armstrong as a of hero.

Parents condone dishonesty and success regardless of the cost and then wonder why their children lack character and have little, or no respect for themselves, or others.

I've made mistakes as a parent, but I'm proud to say that teaching my child right from wrong wasn't one of them.

I am not unreasonable. Just show me a reliable result where he tested positive for drugs or get an admission from him that he did drugs.

I think he should be awarded an Olympic gold medal for gaming the system, if they believe that he did. That's at least as much of an Olympic accomplishment as freaking ribbon-twirling gymnastics.

We're still talking around it and up and down it but we're not talking about it. Two important questions have been avoided.

1. If he was doping how did he never fail test since he was tested and watched so much?
2. If he was cheating what about other country's cheaters who won't be caught since the have no Gestapo or KGB uh I mean a USADA tax supported group?

If you read the USADA report or the Hamilton book the answer to 1 is obvious. There was no test against EPO, there is no test against blood doping. When they made a test against EPO the riders just switched to microdosing which is not detectable. When they tested old samples Armstong's blood with the new test, he tested positive. All in all they were not worried at all about the tests, knew how to avoid them.

Then there are the two tests that he failed. The first one was in the 1999 Tour when he got a backdated doctor's note which allowed him to keep going even though he had explicitely said that he had not been using any of those drugs. The details around the second test he failed are not as clear. Apparently he tested positive for EPO in the 2001 Tour de Suisse, which got muffled up by the UCI. Details are still not clear as the UCI refuses to cooperate.

Why other countries are not doing their work is up to them, that should not stop the USADA from doing their work. This all got started with a confession from Floyd Landis on which the USADA had to respond. The reasons why the UCI did not do their job is still one of the big questions out there which is under investigation.

Dutch my tax dollars could be best used elsewhere though rather than a USADA. With the money we paid them we might have saved lots of trees last year plus homes and property. And don't forget that Lance raised millions in cancer research that might someday save our or loved ones and friends' lives.

Bill- Curious why someone would be so blindingly loyal to a person they do not know. Strange.

You brought up failed tests lots of times. His old samples have been tested with new testing techniques and are positive. He also freakin confessed.

Your point about other countries is dumb as well. Every top cyclist gets tested when they compete at the big races. They all go throught the process. Its fair.

if you dont like USADA and prefer rampant drug use by athletes then fine. Your choice. Most people disagree. Kids look up to athletes. We have no idea of the harm involved in these drugs. At LA's level the drugs were probably clean. What about the kid who buys them on the street corner or back alley so he can play football in highschool.

You only get one set of integrity in your life. LA spent his.

Bill - let me get this straight: Even after Lance confesses, you don't question how HE could knowingly cheat and lie for his own personal gain and cheat the USPS, and others out of millions of dollars... and instead you question the police whose job it is to catch liars and cheaters and dopers?

Is that what you're about.?

There is also good news if you are worried about tax dollars. It looks like the US Postal Service will get a significant chunk of sponsor money back. And postal service needs it for sure.

Some more good news for Bill.

Thanks to the USADA investigation and Lance's confession, both the Dutch and the Belgian cycling associations are starting investigations in drug usage on their riders. Some other smaller riders have already confessed, probably more to follow.

Well I don't know uh- it all sounds fishy and planned to me. He never tested positive but still confessed. I would rather the tax dollars been used to save property and forest from fires - and never tested positive but - well-ur uh- I don't know ----.
