Haven't heard to much about him lately...today I was following rovergate on the USC boards and saw his named mentioned.

What's the latest with him?

not much from our front. looks to be a tiger/tiger (auburn/lsu) battle. we've totally backed off, though word is that he's tried to at least open some communications with our staff recently. i doubt there is any seriousness there, though i suppose you never know.

like how most people know on this board.. word of mouth. is it 100%? heck no but i'm not claiming that it is either. take it for what it's worth.

I would love to have Seastrunk choose SC but I dunno why he'd wanna play in Coach February's worthless offense. Our offense has no identity, the system is a complete joke, the play calling is conservative, bland, and is straight out of 1985 NFL style. Seriously, the NFL, a very conservative league, is more innovate in its offenses than SC's is now. Carroll is loathe to adapt to the ever-changing college game. Get this...he FINALLY, grudgingly started using the shotgun on an extremely limited basis this past season. I'm talking maybe once or twice a game. That's considered big change for PC. His schemes are outdated and predictable and SC's opposition has said numerous times they knew exactly what was coming on every play. It's easy because SC has specific packages for each individual player. Even casual fans see these things. SC rarely, if ever, throws down the middle of the field. We throw about 20 bubble screens a game that are lucky to get 2 yards. The sideways passing game is awful. Watch the Emerald Bowl if you want a good laugh. Carroll is also obsessed with a run/pass balance even if one of the two is working and the other isn't. Watching SC's offense is like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. With Carroll, he doesn't adapt to the players he has, they are to adapt to his garbage system that takes 5 years to learn.

Further, Pete has turned USC into a New Mexico St where inexperienced coaches get their On The Job Training. He's more interested in his growing coaching tree than he is having the best assistants around him.

Lache should go to Auburn. Gus Malzahn is the best OC in the country.

Dear Silly Soviet,

We got us some GD. I'd love for your PC to grow us our GD. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.

Is this the same Greg Davis who has our Horns 13-0 and in yet another National Title game? Just curious?

lol I'm confused now.

You guys upset with this Greg Davis fellow? Hmmm over on the board I normally post at, my fellow SC fans think Mack Brown used to have crappy assistants then he wised up in the mid 2000's and now understands the importance of having a quality staff.

From what I saw out of Texas, your offense was pretty good this year. Looked that way to me.

Offense was far too sporadic and, per usual, didn't take advantage of our talent in big games. The running game was just pathetic, and will be until GD and McWhorter are gone.

so calling a play with poor execution results in a crappy coach. Or does predictability count for anything? All I know is that Texas keeps winning and wins big most of the time so ..... I am confused.

Somebody needs to inform Vince Young, a player who is not in the NFL as a QB for sure without him. He thinks different than you.

The reality is that Davis is great about 85 percent of the time. He struggles mightily when called upon to adjust to a major weakness, such as poor OL blocking, which, honestly, is pretty hard to adjust for.

I remember the great Green Bay Packer teams of the 60s where you knew basically what the Packers under Coach Vince Lombardi were going to do. The challenge was to stop them which was not done too much.

100p, Vince struggled until Mack told him to quit coaching him. That pretty much debunks his greatest claim to fame.

I will never forget games where GD ran Ricky into the middle time after time after time when it wasn't working and then the next week, when Ricky was eating up the other team, he'd abandon Ricky when a strong sustained running game was exactly what the game needed.

exactly EarlofTex

look at USC - they have a roster loaded with 5 star guys - and look at their record this year. they have more talent than anyone in the nation

it shows that you can't just win with talent

I still haven't given up on him and hope he comes to UT. But even if he doesn't best luck wherever he goes as long as it doesn't adversely affect UT.

I just hope he doesn't do the hat pick media event when ever he does decide where he wants to play. Good luck to the kid, hope he see's orange but if not... so be it.

Truth be told, our shotgun offense would be ideal for a scatback like him. I've seen some indications on this board that he might be giving us another look here lately. I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

As an aside, I sometimes wonder how Hodges Mitchell would have fared in our current offense. He did pretty good regardless, but I always felt he was mismatched to the offense we were running back then.

Last I heard he had more interest in Texas than Texas has been showing him, but he would probably end up at USC.

Sure would be cool if he was a good kid who, though he may have reminded us of some we'd like to forget, has been very up front with the coaches. A guy just considering his options, which are many. And then he choose the horns.
