KSU—We Won the Series at #23 KSU

Gasparino was in the on-deck circle at the end of the 8th, but he inched out of it, moving closer and closer to the batter’s box to the point where I thought maybe he and Porter Brown (the batter) were both going to swing at the same pitch. I wish that had happened, would've been the highlight of this game.

6-14 Them

Now that the warm-up game is out of the way, it's time to take the next two for the series victory!

I'm not sure about the wisdom of using Fontenot late in this game. He could be needed tomorrow and/or the next day. He can still pitch tomorrow, but why use him tonight?

Watching the game now, just got through the second inning, what a **** show. almost 60 pitches thrown by all pitchers in the 2nd inning alone! Don't even know what to say. 2nd base is a liability whether it's Kennedy or O'Dowd, no answer there, i would like to move on and put O'Hara or Borba at 2nd. Flores has made a couple of errant throws now this season. Make no mistake, this game was a result of poor pitching but this team half way through the season is in disarray in just about every phase of the game. Burnt orange kryptonite strikes again in the form of purple.

It feels like this season hinges on the next two games now. Lose this series and we are middle of the big XII standings. I don't know if this team is going to get it together or the wheels completely come apart, it feels like it's teetering right now.

Yeah, it's about time for Jack and/or D Kennedy to put it together at the plate, and in the field.

If that doesn't happen, then:

- Thomas to 2B, Galvan to 1B
- give utility man Oliver Service a shot at 2B
- Borba or Powell at 2B, the other at 3B
- O'Hara at 2B
- Gumbo at 2B
- Young Ardoin at 2B

Jack and/or DK have to fix it fast or there could be a shake up.

And just watch, the game after I write this is when Jack wakes up and goes 3 for 4 with a 3 run homer...........

I know right??
Thomas will never play 2nd but something needs to be shaken up.

Never thought our defense would fail but it’s failing.

Longing for the days of Omar Quintanilla and Tim Moss right now.

Yeah. And while we’re on Quintinilla—how about another Cole Quintinilla. Talk about a shut down reliever! Right now, Boehm is the only one approaching that category.

I’m seeing overall good stats, but it’s not translating to W’s. Good on paper, not quite so good on the field. Hope we turn that around, and soon.

We have the 45th ranked ERA, the 58th ranked batting average, 71st in runs scored, the 82nd in fielding percentage.

There's one phase of the game we are good at which is home run hitting ranked 13th. Frankly I believe that's why our overall hitting is bad because when I watch all of these guys swing, the launch angle is really steep. It's so consistent up and down the lineup I believe that is what's being trained here.....hit for the fences. I've never seen a team hit so many pop outs.

That's why we are 15-11.

Where are we at OPS? I bet we're tops in the conference. That's the best overall indicator of how good your bats are.

Before LBJ's debacle last night, and the piling on top of that by Hamilton (and others), our team ERA was probably pretty good.

I'm hoping Ace gets it done tonight, and I like Grubbs for this matchup on Saturday--a ground ball pitcher against the KSU bats--that's what we need.

Someone needs to tell K-State that home runs are risky, as they’ve hit solo shots in the bottom of the first and second innings to start the game

I don't know in conference, but we are 150th in the country.

Edit: I went through the list, we're 7th in conference.

4-3 after 3 innings

In the bottom of the third, the cats for a lead off double then advanced him to third and finally to home.

Correction, that's on base percentage. Sorry. The NCAA site does not have OPS.
Our OPS has got to be top 10% or better. But our hitting is unbalanced. 13 runs one game, 2 runs the next. Hence, good looking stats on paper (on average), but without the W’s you’d expect from that much hitting.

This particular stat has always confused me anyway, but we aren't even a great scoring team. We're 71st.
