Jamal Charles not getting enough respect

Probably because he was just coming into his own as a collegiate back when he split. I think he'll be making money somewhere in the league next year - but he could've used another year of development if he wanted to be considered elite before the draft

During the College All-star Challenge thought I was watching Snatch.

JC= Brad Pitt

I felt like Turkish: "Did you understand a word that he just said?"

I hope he can go 1st, but man he would have improved so much staying another year. He could have shown everyone that he can hold onto ball and the NFL coaches would love that.

eh its his own fault for leaving early... wish him the best, but he cant complain if some people feel he needs to do more to prove his stock.

Kevin Smith will be a very good back in the NFL.
I think both Smith and JC will both be 2nd round guys.
alot will be determined in the next 2 weeks.
this is a great year for RBs so both will be pushed back. true, one more good yeah and JC might have a much better shot at round 1. i dont see a way he is a round 1 guys this year.

Jamaal is going to be one of those players that needs to find the right team for him to flourish, like how Selvin found Denver. He's only late 2nd round-early 3rd round in my books

IMHO JC needed one more year. I wish him all the success in the NFL - regardless of his draft selection.

In college, Jamaal was, to me, a poor man's Reggie Bush.

And Reggie ain't exactly tearing up the league.

I love Jamaal. I'm happy for what he gave our team for three years and I wish him the best. That said, I don't see him being an All-Pro. I think his upside is Eric Metcalf. Which ain't bad, I guess.

Thats Right. Every time I see your sig it gets me excited about Antwan Cobb. In that Iowa State game, he looked like he could tote the rock.

Jamal could run like the wind, but was seldom in the proper position here. He needed another year and he could have had the full bed of roses. I wish him the best, but I fear his pro aspirations will not be met.

IMO, Jamaal would be much better served--and would find his post-athletic existence much more enjoyable--if he devoted himself to track. He's a natural, effortless sprinter, a la Carl Lewis. He wouldn't necessarily be a household name in the U.S., but he could make lotsa dough in Europe.

JC will shoot up the boards after the combine & Texas Pro day. He is the type of player that always does because he is going to be smoking fast and very quick. He will be first or second round.

Jamal is entering the NFL with many good RBs. If he wants to get respect he will have to stand out the next few weeks. He will get his chance to show respect at the combine. He may not have made the smartest decision by leaving with a class that has as many good RBs as this one. It will definitely push him back imo.

In '06 we saw Jamaal and Selvin basically back and forth on the same plays. I thought they were almost exactly comparable, except Jamaal had better break away speed. Now, we've seen that Selvin is good enough to play in the NFL and Jamaal has gotten a little bigger, and a little better, so I conclude that Jamaal is ready for the NFL.

He'll have a great combine, get drafted surprisingly high, and all will be well. It's all good.

Dude,

Stop reading this crap and relax. The only people that matter to Charles are the people employed by the NFL teams whose job it is to prepare and make the decisions for this years draft. No writer, no draft expert, no blogger matters nor can influence his draft position so either read it for fun or ignore it. Life has enough stress without finding more windmills to tilt.

you can't really compare Charles and Selvin, because Selvin went to a team with an incredible run scheme. Jamaal will likely not end up on the Broncos and will not be as fortunate as Selvin and end up in the perfect run system.

If you watch that skills competition he was at, Jamaal had issues with that blocking sled ... he couldn't even move it. I think he needed another year of work in picking up blitzes and things like that, because it seems he'll be a 3rd down kinda back and they really want you to work on your blitz coverage.

i would take kevin smith of JC all day if i was an NFL team. JC is highly talented, but i'm just not sure he is going to fit in on most NFL teams. i definitely see the Bush comparison above. while he is a little better between the tackles (at least in college) he has a little less in the agility department compared to Bush.

he'll be a nice player for somebody, but if you are expecting him to tear up the league you are crazy.

If you happen to think Jamaal is better than Kevin Smith, that's fine, but it's ludicrous to imply that someone has to be crazy to rank Smith ahead of him.
