is Arkansas 2008 really a threat?

It's not living in the past to say ANYTIME Texas and Arkansas play, the swine will be up for the game and a threat to Texas.

Petrino may not be steeped in the history of this game, but his Arkansas handlers will make sure he's in the proper frame of mind by the time gametime rolls around. Make no mistake about it...Petrino may leave something to be desired in the ethics department, but he's a very good coach.

Last thought...count me in with those wondering why we're playing the pigs. There's very little for Texas to gain. If we win, we were supposed to. We have an awful lot to lose. I also see NO sense in giving arky any more recruiting leverage in Texas than they have now. I have no problem playing an SEC team out of conference, but I'd like it to be one that's at least one state removed from either Louisiana or Arkansas.

This game is a lose-lose situation for us, and I hope this two game series with the bacon is the last for a long time.

On their recruiting in Texas, I cannot understand why any Texas boy would even consider playing for Arky, what with their "hate Texas" mentality and otherwise venomous behavior toward all things Texan. Seems like that would get old really fast.

And the same goes for OU. Go figure.

blow-u has the built in recruiting tool of 7 national championships. arky has only one, but especially for east texas guys, arky's almost the same thing as another Texas team, they offer the exposure of playing in the SEC, and a history of winning with Texas players. A lot of their best players have been Texans. There's another factor...if a player doesn't get offered by Texas, he might see playing against Texas, and possibly beating Texas, as an attractive alternative. (See: Jermie Calhoun over the next three or four years.) Some teenager isn't gonna get into a state pride mindset.

People, PLEASE listen to 100p.

Arkansas hates our guts with a purple heated passion.

Case in point; 2004 TX/Ark game in fayettnam. I find the road going to the stadium which is named "Razorback Road".

For two solid miles, I see booth after booth, camp after camp, tailgate after tailgate with nothing but the most caustic, vitriolic anti- TEXAS paraphernalia. I have heard that their fans are still mad at us over the "1969 Shootout" forty years later and I believe it!

SO GET IT INTO YOUR HEADS once and for all, finally and forever,

Arkansas is as dangerous as a two headed Rattlesnake.

Bring only AAA+++ game or be prepared to have a Appy State disaster. See Meatchicken first game '06.

Yes, Arkansas will show up to play. Texas is definitely highlighted on our schedule. Why? We don't have anybody to hate anymore. But we still remember hating Texas.

We've been trying pretty hard to learn how to hate LSU. That's been going well, but we still don't really hate them. We kinda don't like Alabama. Maybe Ole Miss will mean something now.

Anyway, when we look around for somebody to hate, Texas is an easy choice. Lots of history, your team is usually good, share a border (even if it is tiny).

I hope that explains it. I certainly look forward to the game and have no excuse not to go since I now live in Austin.

lefty does not represent the typical Razorback personality when it comes to Texas. I've experienced arky hate towards the Horns and it ain't pretty. Oh... and it's real and inbred for a few generations now. Trust me, they will come to play with whatever they have. If Patrino can't convince them the rest of the state and the media can and will.

we're doooooomed!!

haha...**** Arkansas...have we already forgotten who our badass DC is?? re-watch this video and tell me that Will Muschamp is not going to have our boys ready to knock these ************* out!

Boom!

Wasn't Muschamp coaching at No. 2-ranked Auburn in 2006? Arkansas kicked his defenses *** pretty bad. They never could stop the run. Of course now that Mcfadden and Jones are gone, Texas will have a chance.

Nailed it.

Arkansas truly HATES us! A lot of younger posters cannot understand the depth of that hatred. I am still not sure Mack understands the depth of that hatred.

They view us in the same light OU views us in. If we treat it like "any other game," just like we did in '03, I see them beating us again. The animosity is bred into them.

Seems to me like it is time to start a grassroots effort to get Coach Royal to come out of retirement to coach for just this game. If not at least get him in the locker room a week or two before the game to re-live the Game of the Century for the young-uns.

Yes we are a threat and everyone on your board really knows it. We have beat the Horns 2 out of the last three times since 2000...and if you ask most hog fans they will also bring up that we won the last swc game against the Horns too. Never mind that you lead the series 55-22 or so.

We do realize that we will win, on average, 1 out of 3 games against Texas. Arkansas is not like it used to be in the old SWC. We have considerable talent, although we will be down next year.

I really don't think Texas should worry about Arkansas coming in and recruiting Texas more. In the last decade, we have got one recruit that you wanted out of Texas....Lawrence Richardson from Galveston. You will still get to pick and choose who you want out of your home state. Arkansas competing for recruits in Texas helps you in my opinion. We're not going to get yours, but we will get one from A&M, OU, OSU, or other Big 12 schools on occasion. Every kid we get from one of your competitors just helps your cause for winning the Big 12. Really Texas....if you beat OU you should be in the Big 12 championship every year. It's not like you play in the SEC or anything!

Arkansas/Texas....or Texas/Arkansas is a good rivalry. We love to hate the Horns, and ya'll want to beat us and shut our mouths.

I love how there is absolutely no credit given for Arkansas' wins in 2000 and 2003. Arkansas didn't win because they played better, or were better coached, but because of hate.

I guess Chance Mock said it best in 2003

It appears to me that you horn fans are forgetting that these past arkansas wins and losses were by houston nutt. Arkansas has petrino now as a head coach. (3rd among winning coaches in college football and a national championship) Petrino and arkansas will be ready for texas and the sec in 2008.

This game is really pretty simple. If Texas comes out flat and doesn't take Arkansas as a serious threat, the hogs have a chance. If Texas recognizes that this is Arkansas' Super Bowl and consequently comes out ready to play, the Horns will win...probably by a lot.

Arkansas in 2000 ran up the score in the 4th Qtr on an uninspired Texas team which had lost its best offensive and defensive players to suspension. Kwame Cavil was as important to the Texas team as McFaddin was to Arkansas last year. Maybe even more so since Arkansas had a good backup rb.

However, unlike McFaddin - Texas suspended Kwame while McFaddin got his escalade and was able to play in the bowl last year.

2003 - Arkansas clearly out-coached, out-prepared, out-motivated, and out-muscled the Texas team. No excuses - Arkansas beat Texas in every aspect of a College game.

And Yes, the fact that Arkansas had supreme motivation to BEAT TEXAS played a factor in both games.

2008 - Texas will beat Arkansas primarily because Arkansas should not be very good at all.

pig did not beat Texas the last two SWC games as stated earlier.
In '90 Texas won 49-17 in a total rape and in '91 Ark won 14-13 in a game Texas beat themselves.
Ask any Ark fan and they'll admit pig was LUCKY that game. Texas outgained them 398-257 in yards yet had 9 penalties for 103 yards and also missed a easy FG to take the lead late in the game.
Ark will play their best game in Austin this year so they must be prepared.
We were dumb enough to schedule these dorks now it's here.
