Injuries and Iowa State on the road

In today's presser, TH said Colin tweaked his hamstring again. Different area of the muscle and not as bad as last time. They will treat it aggressively, but damn we need Brennan!
TH didn't say anything about Eagles in the PC, but the gambling sites still show Eagles ? vs ISU and updated yesterday so perhaps they are just wrong.

Would it kill Herman to tell us — something — about Eagles? “It’s a personal issue, a team rules issue....” Something?

None of our business you say? I say bull. As I have said a million times, if you want arguably the largest fan base and the most lucrative program in the country then you better be prepared to be questioned. Sure, some things should be kept confidential, but we deserve — yes, I did say deserve — to be told ...something.

And by the way, I wonder why rumors start? Could it be due to the absence of information?

Jake had a whole lot thrown at him early. The coaches backed off so he could spend some more time learning for now. His mistakes were mental.

Asking for real and not trying to be a smart azz but is this just your take or has been reported that the coaches backed off?

Eagles is now listed as questionable vs ISU for personal reasons.

Interesting since he played vs KSU after skipping TCU. He made one of the bigger underrated plays of the game, too, when he emphatically came back towards a pass to make sure he got it to before anyone on the defense did.

Unless it's a criminal matter the fans have no right to know anything.

I have not seen anything on Eagles that indicates he would not go to Iowa State to play. Texas needs Jake Smith too but I think this will be more Straight Ahead running game so we really need the offensive line and the defensive line as usual to win their battles.

Just my take, but it has been reported that he has blown a couple of routes and made some other mistakes so I believe the coaches are just slowing it down a little bit to let him catch his breath.

OL & DL are crucial Sat. Horns can run on 'clones and should, often. But passing game will be vital to vicktree on Sat.

We will need to score 35+ to beat the blowing winds. If our D can hold them below 30 we will win going away. So says my crystal ball; and my 8 ball, and my Q ball, and my....never mind, the message has been delivered.

This, of course, is true. After all, how important are the fans?

Further, no one is making fans pay $150 or so to attend a game at DKR, spend $5.00 for a coke, and no one is putting a gun to our heads to buy Nike Longhorn apparel.

So yes, we have no right to know. But alienate the fan base and watch what happens.

Of course, win and win often, and few will care. Herman doesn’t have that luxury at the moment.

If only we hydrated better; maybe we wouldn’t have this sort of injury so much...
:rolleyes1:

Two things....
1. I am in the crowd that cannot really relate to all the fan "we deserve this...we deserve that crowd".
Not really just a football fan philosophy for me...just my take in life in general. I dont get it. I'm a fan....they are my team. I can root or not and it is my choice...they owe me nothing...absolutely nothing. They can cx the program all together or win 10 NCs in a row. For now, they play football...I watch and support. I do not feel led to make demands of any sort.
2. So tired of hearing defense blamed for TCU loss. Yes, the defense got gashed down the stretch for a couple long plays that were the difference score-wise, but any discerning football fan should be able to see that loss was on the O more and just a great TCU defensive effort. The O couldn't do their part while the defense was doing plenty...strung them out too far for too long and they finally broke.
Too much emphasis on the D from fans and little on the O for that loss ...pretty much the case for OU loss, too. JMHO

I am thinking more yoga and ballet.

It has been such a problem this year and in previous years too I wonder if Collin should not Redshirt this year and come back next year to prove he can play healthy?

His draft stock has to be in the tank.

You do realize Purdy is #3 in yards per game passing nationally?

Yes, that is another reason a robust running game is vital Sat. Horns need to play keep away from Purdy / ISU O, eat clock and score. Purdy is very dangerous if he has time - Horns MUST keep pressure on him or he will tear us up.

This. I didn't watch the game. Had been working 60+ hours and just needed some time on the lake. But you have 4 turnovers you lose unless the other team is significantly worse. But you get 2 teams even close in talent and you will lose every time. We won so many games last year simply by not turning the ball over and playing even football in every other category.

Cyclones going with all black unis this weekend so it’s Darth Vader vs Stormtroopers — could look really cool

Didn’t Tom Penders get in a lot of trouble after a leak of confidential player information? I don’t blame coaches for treading lightly and playing it safe in this area.

Saturday in Ames, Iowa

High of 43
Low of 30

Partly cloudy
20% chance of precipitation
14 mph wind

Glad the game isn't today: High 20 Low 1; 21 mph wind
The weather in Ames is ridiculous for this time of year. Record cold and I just looked out the window and it's snowing again. For those visiting this weekend, drive careful and dress warm. Not even the natives are prepared for winter weather this soon. It should be a good crowd, but probably the smallest of the season so far.

Thanks for the feedback - any word about the wind conditions expected on Sat.?

It looks like around 10 mph. That is better than it was a couple days ago when it showed a forecast for gusts up to 20 mph. There are no gusts shown in the current hourly forecast.

Gusts are a tailgate tent's worst enemy. As it stands I expect the weather is going to put a damper on tailgating. Our group is getting soft and has already decided to move our tailgating inside.

All this unseasonably cold weather and big wind for football games up on the plains, reminds me of some nasty upsets we've suffered when playing at Tech. We're usually a much better team, but when the temperature drops into the 30s and the wind whips up on the plains, strange things have been known to happen.

It sounds like the wind won't be too bad on Saturday, and ISU is probably more pass-happy than we are (ISU 323 yds passing per game / 156 yards rushing per game). It shouldn't matter too much. Our equipment guys should have all the cold weather gear ready to go.

Let's just hope Jack Trice Stadium isn't Jack Ice Stadium on Saturday (or would that be Jack Frost...?).

Glad to see some (non-overtly hostile) ISU fans posting on these boards by the way.
