Its an insult to Connor Atchley to compare him to Brian ******* Boddicker. Along with Ramonce Taylor, Boddicker is the most disappointing UT athlete to come to the 40 acres. The reason for the disappointment are obviously different but the result is the same.

Boddicker was a McDonald's All-American who nowhere near lived up to expectations. The only valuable asset he brought was his 3 ball which was very streaky and not as reliable as CA's. Boddicker defense was horrific and he was generally a waste of space on the court.

A more apt comparison would be to Brad Buckman. CA beats him hands down as well. He is much more athletic.

Sometimes I wonder if some of ya'll actually saw Boddicker play. I admit he wasn't the greatest, but he wasn't all that bad either.

I do think Atchley will become the better player, but Boddicker was the better 3 pt shooter as it stands today. He hit some big shots in his day.

just saw something else; did anyone realize that Connor is shooting 60% from the field and 50% from dowtown for the season?

Yes.

And that's while playing a significant amount of the season with a debilitating elbow injury which kept him from reaching full extension, either on his perimeter shots or while attempting to shot block.

ThirtyFiveAlive,

I'm not looking to win a popularity contest. The only question that arose recently is someone said, "No need to be hostile," and jimmyjazz didn't understand why I was surprised when people felt like I was being hostile.

Again, in the case you point out, I'm not being hostile. I honestly believe Iconoclastic Horn or whatever his handle was, doesn't have the first clue as to what to look for other than the ball going into the hoop when he's watching the game, otherwise he couldn't have come to the conclusion he did. That's not hostility. That's an observation.

The "unintentional" part was written tongue in cheek. Reread my post with your sarcasm meter turned on.

Boddicker contributed more early in his career than Connor did, but I'd take Connor's current year (in a close one) over Boddicker's last year.

I don't get the Brad Buckman comparison. Yeah they were both white post players, but they played very different roles until PJ and LaMarcus started taking up all the post time the middle of Brad's senior year and he started having to shoot from the outside most of the time.

Are you two ladies done? Connor Atchley would not be happy with this thread. He would drain a cold-blooded 3 and then throw down a nasty dunk in both of your faces if he read this.

I think that some people in this thread are being very unfair to Boddicker. There's a difference between underachieving and not being any good. Boddicker was a valuable piece to a Final Four team.

Boddicker was a valuable piece, an he did not underachieve. As noted, he brought an intense work ethic. And while he could run the floor a little, you couldn't slide a piece of paper under his best vertical.

I really miss him, but I was fortunate enough to have him on my side at Duncanville and UT. And I think I know which side of the borderline he came down on regarding "borderline dirty".

fraschilla gave me my new sig. i think it apropos to the thread above (sans the pissing contest between slx and everybody offended by his opinions).

Boddicker was a good player. He and CA are different players. Too many people see a tall white guy and equate them to being equal on the court. That's like saying that AJ isn't as good as TJ Ford. They are the same height and stature and they are both african american....Would anybody argue that???

Boddicker did a lot of good things and hit a lot of big shots for the a FINAL FOUR TEAM. Let's not forget that...

Now if some people don't like Brian for reasons off the court, that is their beef and they are entitled to their own opinion. I actually got to know Brian personally and there wasn't a better dude around. Very down to earth and a genuinely good guy.

I agree Stat. The thing that most casual bsketball fans don't understand about Boddicker was his basketball "IQ". He was an extremely smart player on the court that knew all of our sets inside and out. Barnes loved boddicker for his ability to do all the "little things" on the court.

Now I agree that CA has a better inside game at this point. BB was not a "back to the basket" guy.

And all this nonsense about McDonald's AA is crap. Being a McDonald's AA is an award for a great HS career, it doesn't guarantee you are going to be an AA in college. Just like there are great college players that don't make it in the NBA, there are great HS players that don't become great college players.

Byron Eaton at OSU was a McDonald's AA (was selected over AJ). Would you rather have him right now over AJ? I mean he was a McDonalds AA....

I dont understand people ripping on Boddicker. That guy was integral in our final four run and hit alot of big shots

The Conner and Klotz comparison is pretty valid as far as their development. I remember yelling "no no no no" every time Klotz touched the ball as a fresh/soph and then he becomes our go to guy late in the game
