How to Beat OU?

I moved to ok when I was 5 years old and moved back to TX at 19 years old. Nate is correct. ok is a cesspool and a cult. Nate held back and could have said much more about these assho***. The two most popular tourist destinations in ok are the exists.:ousucks::ousucksnana::ousucks::ousucksnana::ousucks::ousucksnana::ousucks::ousucksnana:
I said I agree with the sentiment. I hate ou. But, this board would rightfully label any former ou player as a classless buffoon for posting an F bomb laden Tweet.

I get that, and I was definitely shocked to see that type of tweet coming from Nate Boyer. I know he's passionate, but I've never seen him talk like that on social media. Would have looked a lot better without all the expletives.

Boyer should issue an apology and simply retweet a cleaner version without the F bombs. The guy has been held in very high esteem by everyone. He just compromised much of the goodwill he had accrued over the past many years.

Ways to win the game have already been articulately stated by various posters. Well done Hornfans.

To underscore what I particularly agree with:
1. We must limit all forms of turnovers--ints, fumbles;
2. Sam must be on, and able to zip the long ball accurately--ou cannot be allowed to stack the box to stop the run--Punish ou if they stack the box with 6 or 8;
3. On Defense we must Tackle and wrap up effectively--this is vital;
4. We must never let our focus, energy and confidence get down--there will be times when they win a play, or a drive--No worries, come back and win the next play, the next drive, until the final second ticks off the clock.

We can win this game. I think we will.

Nobody I've ever seen consistently gets as much time in the pocket as Murray. Get regular pressure on him, and he'll look mortal. Still a pretty good mortal, and he'll slip out of it plenty of times, but we cannot let him stand still for 5-6 seconds after taking the snap for pass after pass.

And Hager needs to shut up with the “OU has no defense” crap. Those guys are good athletes and they have pride. Not wise to motivate your opponent, imo.

Let your play do the talking. Nothing else needs to be said.

Although if anybody has the slightest bit of room to become more motivated to win this game than they already are, something's wrong with them.

I understand the respect, but
We already did.
In my opinion when we tried ball control it played into their hands.
Score 50. That should be the game plan.

OU's last 4 opponents have scored 40+ points and lost. I don't think getting into a shootout with them is the best strategy. I say slow it down, play field position, and keep Kyler off the field.

Answer: Ball Control.

Run the ball, control the clock, keep them off the field. Bore them to death.

Honestly, I completely agree. Take care of the ball and keep the OU offense off the field. Army should have beat OU.

That said, I think OU-Texas is a different breed. The teams are both so up for the game and focused things you don't expect to see often happen.

Ou might be extra hyped for the game thinking they have a shot at the cfp, given Michigan shitting the bed. IMO, they have no shot even if they roll us. The narrative has been set, they have no defense and the ESPN bunch is non stop about it.

OSu will move beyond ou , esp if they beat NOrthwestern. Alabama, Clemson, ND wins, they're in. Georgia beats Alabama, they're both in leaving tOSU and ou out. I just don't see how ou gets in. But I'd think they are of the mindset of running it up

I just hope we beat their ***, take their early commits, and set the momentum going forward.

OIMO, they have no shot even if they roll us.

As an OU fan, I agree with you logically. However, OU has always been lucky when it comes to getting in. Seems like OU always finds a way, despite whatever. As TX fans I'm sure you remember the times OU got in the Big 12 championship after losing to TX. I remember TX fans saying, "It should go on head to head matchup" and thinking, "Yeah, but if they change it knowing OU's luck, the change would screw TX next year."

I honestly might prefer they miss the playoffs if they beat TX. I'd rather win a big bowl than lose the first game of the playoffs. OU is really beat up with injuries. Guess you always have to take your chance if you get it though. Never know what can happen. In big games it's usually best to be an underdog nobody gives a chance.

Kyler will run out of bounds or drop to keep from getting hit. Keep up the pressure and hit him full force every chance the D gets. Hold him up and let teammates get some good shots in. I’d like to our D knock the ever lovin’ crap out of him early and often. :hookem::bevo::texasflag:

Guess I'm going to be the contrarian here. If a former ou or a&m or whoever else player put up an obscenity laced tweet like that, this board would be up in arms.

While I agree with his sentiment, I think it is low class to write it that way. Twitter is not a fox hole or SEAL training place.

Sorry, flame away.

YOU SHUT YOUR FILTHY ***** MOUTH!!!!!

Never disparage true poetry like that.

One key, and a few have mentioned it, pressure pressure pressure. That's the only way to slow down their offense, aka the K Murray express. With his front line it's easy to see why he does not get rattled. The kid could peal and eat a banana before he has to throw the ball. You get after him and he'll implode. Oh, and tackle.

The biggest difference in their offense pre and post Texas is Murray is willing to and running the ball more. He is easily the quickest if not the fastest player on the field. He reminds me of Vick running (maybe not as big and Vick wasn't big), but he is a much better passer. The Texas defense will have to play disciplined football up front with a four man line and stay in their lanes. Stop the run. They need pressure up the middle and force Murray to go backwards before going forward. The linebackers will have to play an exceptional game. The db's need to keep they plays in front of them and make sure tackles limiting yac. Make them kick field goals and create a couple of turnovers.

The offense must take advantage of their defense. Sam will have to be on. If his accuracy is the Kansas game going to be a looooong day. WVU made a living off of seam routes and we need to as well. Offense needs to finish with td's. Special teams need to just not make any mistakes. Execution is the key.

Like I said at the time, I don't think we played to lose in the fourth quarter. Some untimely mistakes killed us as well as an inability to simply line up and run against a team that knew we were going to run.

The good news for us is that from what I saw, the vast majority of what happened on defense was absolutely horrible execution and mental mistakes that I suspect happened because the defense was gassed. This time around, we have much better developed depth, and I expect that we'll have more in the tank down the stretch.

I am cautiously optimistic. I don't know if we're going to get the win, but I fully expect us to show up and bring it. And it wouldn't shock me at all if this round is lower scoring than the last one.

I truly believe the extra day of prep will give Orlando and Herman an extra day to comb through film and put together a plan/scheme to slow down OU for a while.

I dont think a month of extra time will help the OU defense so the question is how can we take advantage of that temporary offensive edge until Riley figures it out. That will be the difference in the game.

Our defense has been playing well of late. Held ku and isu under 20. The Offense has got to play better than they have the last few games.

If Texas brings the offense that scored less than 30 against isu and ku the Horns can not win.
