How to Beat OU?

We can't have turnovers like today. We have to tackle them. We have to account for all their receivers. We can't kick the ball out of bounds or shank punts.

Rush 4 at all times...bring it where Murray not sure where the pressure will come from. Get Brandon Jones back and the old Sam... not today's Sam.

Tackling in space.
More 4 man fronts to stop the run.
Gap control.
Man to man and two deep zone, mixed.
Blitz but from different formations and in special situations.
GJ spy on KM.

The defense will have to win this game. If we try to put it all on Sam we will lose! We need a great effort from the O Line. We have to run on them efficiently.

Murray must be pressured. Today he was allowed to just stand back and pick a receiver. He does not like to get hit so hit him. Must be kept in the pocket.

Score Touchdowns on every series and get a few stops on them.

Above all else, don't go into prevent offense or prevent defense. Never stop scoring, Texas needs to go into this game thinking they need to score 70 pts.

They are going to score. But at least make them earn it. Take better angles than we did in the 4th quarter. And we have to win the TO battle like last time. WVU put up more yds, but you can't spot that team 2 TDs like that. Oh, and don't hold. OU never gets a chance to beat us if we don't hold. They had zero ability to stop us in the 4th quarter. We did that to ourselves.

Obviously we'll need stops, but nobody can beat ou unless you score a boat load of points. Sam needs to be "healthy Sam." Period.

And the defense needs to get the memo... No violation of team rules, please.

It seems every time a rematch comes up the loser of the first game gets the better of their opponent. For some reason I think we have a shot even tho I was shocked we beat them last month. Their _efense is awful and I think given the opportunity, LJ and CJ will have a moss-fest on ou corners. It was like men vs boys last month. If we can run on them and create one on one match ups, and Sam is healthy, I'm in.

Hook em

This will be the biggest game for the Horns in years.

Win a Big 12 title.
Beat a good OU team twice in one season.
Recruiting momentum.
Earn a very respectable bowl game slot.

The team will need to be well prepared and disciplined to take this one. We can do it. :hookem:

Guess I'm going to be the contrarian here. If a former ou or a&m or whoever else player put up an obscenity laced tweet like that, this board would be up in arms.

While I agree with his sentiment, I think it is low class to write it that way. Twitter is not a fox hole or SEAL training place.

Sorry, flame away.

Not making excuses for his twitter but we know passions run really high for this rivalry and poor Nate LIVED among them... for that he has my empathy.

Appreciate the OP.

Assuming that Sam is “right” (and he “has” to be right) and plays within himself (!), and the O-Line does what they have been doing for most of the year, the key is the D and toughness. We MUST be the more physical team. Bring the pain!

I really like our athletes on defense. Tell me where I have missed the mark.

D-Line:

While there has been plenty of skepticism, with a reasonably heathy Nelson and Hager, with Roach back, Omenihu playing well and Ossai emerging, I have to feel good about this unit.

Second Level:

Johnson won’t lack motivation, and he’s fast. McCulloch is gaining confidence, and Wheeler seems to be playing better. (Wheeler needs to have a great game.) I wouldn’t be surprised to see an occasional injection of speed here, perhaps someone like Overshown...

Back End:

We have the talent, in spades. Sterns, Jones, Foster. Speed. Smarts. They are growing...

There probably aren’t many units around that boast the coverage corners and stud safeties that Texas has. If we can limit the brain lapses, concede the short passes (they’re going to complete passes), avoid the bombs and contain Murray (I said “contain,” not stop) — all
of which is achieve — we just might be able to manage this explosive offensive.

Force 10+ play drives to score and the odds of a missed pass, fumble or int will go up. The Gooners have set a yards per play record this year because of all the twenty and fifty plus yard plays. Limit those by keeping the action in front of us, and it could change the complexion of the game. Of course, we must slow the run as well.

I think we can win this game and control their offense. I have a good feeling. We are a better D than we were on October 6th...

I moved to ok when I was 5 years old and moved back to TX at 19 years old. Nate is correct. ok is a cesspool and a cult. Nate held back and could have said much more about these assho***. The two most popular tourist destinations in ok are the exits.:ousucks::ousucksnana::ousucks::ousucksnana::ousucks::ousucksnana::ousucks::ousucksnana:
