Houston Astros 2020 thread............

Hoping the Astros save some offense for the next few games...but seeing Springer, Altuve and Correa having it going on IS fun. 10-5 going to bottom of the ninth...

There was a guy on Twitter who took the 15.5 in-game under...he has to be sweating it right about now.

Two down and one to go...then sitting around waiting on Yanks/Rays to finish. Urquidy is starting today...would be nice to get a sweep.

With bases loaded, 2 outs in the 9th

Bregman hit every ball today on the screws - nothing to show

I was not happy with that last at-bat. Opposing pitcher couldn't find the strike zone with a map, throwing eight straight balls (cue Bob Uecker with "Ball four...ball eight...) to load the bases for the second time IN THE INNING. If ever there was a time to take at least the first pitch, it was THAT at-bat...

All Bregman needed to do was get a single somewhere and that game was probably going to have been tied. And with Correa on-deck, a walk wouldn't have been a bad thing either, as bases loaded and down by one is a good place for the guy who ALREADY had one over the fence in the game...

Astros have allowed 7 ERs and are down 0-3
They been outscored by 6 runs total
They have gone 4-of-24 w/RISP
and left 31 men on base
in 3 games

Tampa Bay has had some stellar defensive gems to be certain, but some of Dusty's management of the pitching staff last night just bring back memories of WHY he has the reputation he holds as a manager...

Urquidy was pitching fine. He wasn't the one who had a case of the yips. He deserved to have been left in the game.

Was very concerned to see him going out in the 6th to talk to Greinke, especially with the shots of Pressley warming up. Pressley with runners on base is just throwing gasoline on a fire, as we would get to (again) witness in the 9th inning when he came in and promptly gave up a double to allow the tying run to be in scoring position.

The comments of Greinke about lack of confidence having been shown up to this point in his Houston tenure were extremely telling about the nonsensical absolute reliance on analytics. There ARE some pitchers who have an extra gear to find when they HAVE to get the out...Greinke seems to be one of them.

Lance McCullers and Charlie Morton BOTH pitched for Houston in the 2017 ALCS and the 2017 WS Game 7

They'll face each other in Game 7 of the 2020 ALCS

Which makes them the first pitching duo in MLB postseason history to pitch in the same winner-take-all game as teammates who later started against each other in a winner-take-all game
