Horns vs TCU series

That was bush league by TCU. What were they thinking?
The play at the plate wasn't close. Dumb base running by the Frogs.

Great throw. And good catch and tag by Guillemette--who was actually slightly out-of-position well to the left of the plate.

Post game Eyes!

Bad base running decision by TCU. Your catcher is the runner. Not very deep of a fly ball and Porter catches it with forward momentum - the not so speedy catcher is out by a country mile after a laser beam throw.

W for the good guys. Going for the sweep manana Needed that!!

That was badass! Double play to end the game. Fly out to Brown in LF and he drills a one hopper to nail the runner tagging from 3rd. Ballgame. That was all some.
The ball beat the runner because of no hop. This is why the out was easy even though the throw was offline.

Lbj was incredible today. Hated to see him get pulled but 85 pitches a lot for him I suppose. No walks and pitched very well. Only 4 walks and hbp in 2 games vs tcu. Makes a big difference. Baylor series 32 walks and hbp, ou series 23.
Also, the bunt lbj fielded and put the runner out unassisted was huge and a great athletic play. That could easily have been 1st and 2nd no outs.

By my count, here are the dudes available tomorrow:

Witt
Tole
Shaw
Lummus
Walbridge
Sthele
Whitehead
Duplantier
Morehouse
Hurley
Minchey

Could probably squeeze an inning out of Burke if absolutely necessary.

Grubbs and George.

That looks about right. You forgot Lummus though.

Witt = Starter - but will only go 1 inning
Tole = we'll want as many good innings as we can get from Tole. We'll want at least 2, 3, or 4 innings from him.
Hurley = see Tole above.
Shaw = stopper when things go South to get us out of an inning and go 1-2 more innings.

Ideally, we could just use the above pitchers tomorrow, and keep them to 4 or fewer runs.

We've also got:

Morehouse = When he's on, he's really on. Could close.
Lummus = good in relief, most of the time. Could close. Underrated.
Sthele = the coaches really love him, and his stuff is good, his numbers aren't. We'll probably see him. Coach will probably use Travis like I described Tole and Hurley above.
Whitehead = reliably decent.
DuPlantier = has good #s, but pull him quickly if he's having an off day. Many fans seem to really dislike this player. I think he's all right this year. His numbers are pretty good.

Then, in an emergency:

Minchey = will be a star here, but not this year.
Walbridge = hopefully we don't need him tomorrow. He's not THAT bad, but he's not THAT good. Maybe next year.

I’d guess it’s either Sthele or Hurley after Witt. But who knows. Maybe Tole. Or Lummus - He’s more a situational guy in my opinion though.

I’m staying on the Sthele bandwagon for now. I’m not expecting him to be a star. But you can certainly get a good 3 innings out of him.

It’ll be interesting.

Oh yeah, we might see Stuart some tomorrow, although it might be best if we didn't....

Yeah, the way Coach will likely play it is Hurley, Sthele, and Tole after Witt. (2, 3, or 4 innings for each). Hopefully we don't see Stuart until the next mid-week game or KU. Shaw will probably either stop a rally or close the game for us.

Morehouse is rested, but he's struggled quite a bit lately. Lummus is under-appreciated. DuPlantier is a possibility for an inning or two (not more).

I forgot about Stuart. Probably need to remake Morehouse a bit. Bring him in and just have him throw it by people. Maybe those are Tuesdays or San Jose. One inning.

How about that nice piece of classic small ball for our 3rd, and winning, run. Get ‘em on. Move em over. Bring ‘em in. Jack walked, Thomas bunted Jack to 2nd. And Powell singled him in.

Nice Sunday afternoon win, a sweep in Fort Worth wouldnt erase the OU debacle but it would definitely start the process of maybe being able to, that makes tomorrow still just as critical as yesterday and today were.

:tcu:

What they have left for tomorrow on the mound are mostly:

i. unproven guys who haven't pitched many innings, and
ii. guys with high, or very high, ERAs

We may see:

Brown..................5.87 ERA
Vanderhei.............6.27 ERA
Stoutenborough....5.58 ERA

As a comparison, performance-wise, they have their choice between 3 Stuarts to put on the mound.

Another possibility is that we might see a few innings again from Hoover, or even Klecker (whom we shelled), on Monday. Both those guys threw some on Saturday. Klecker may be in therapy after we knocked him around on Saturday, but statistically, he's the best they've got. And Klecker didn't throw many pitches.

A lot of mediocre frog pitchers for the Horns to FEAST on!
Monday!!

Can anyone explain to me why LBJ was pulled with a righty coming up? It seems like to me it would have been better to keep LBJ in for the righty and then put Shaw in for the lefty? After all, LBJ was still pitching really good.:idk:
