YAWN!
Going to OU or WVU in a CCG with a wounded duck of an arm/shoulder is NOT a good idea. Texas NEEDS Sam to be 100%. Texas has shown that they don't perform well in shootouts, even when the opposing D sucks. There is absolutely nothing that suggests Shane could not have guided the offense to a win against Kansas, with would have afforded Sam the extra ten days to focus on trying to use as many reparative techniques in the trainer's room as possible. I had no reason to believe that the sieve of a defense would give up 40 to Rock Chalk the way the land thieves did the week before but I am appalled at the lack of O against a D that gave up 50+ to the same team that just hung close to 60 against WVU...
And, quite honestly, the way some trash Shane around here, I can ONLY imagine how bad next week on Hornfans would have been had there been more permanent damage done to Sam's wing. This does not even begin to touch on the comments of some in the game thread as the game was going on where it was opined that Sam showed signs consistent with having been concussed...
So again, the PRUDENT thing is rest your supposed stud QB in a game where you don't need a INT-free performance and you don't need 50 yards of rushing from your QB.
I wanted the win for reasons of financial gain...nine wins got me paid. But I would have been paid with Shane starting (and finishing). But in listening to Sam's comments when the mic was stuck in front of him in the parking lot, I cannot put anything on the game next week. He all but admitted the shoulder is now WORSE for having played...and THAT is not something that comes from coaches looking out for the health of their squad.
