Horns vs Jayhawks Game Thread

I was one of the few folks there. The wind was tricky, at one end it didnt look like it was blowing at all and at the other was a full gale.

I did point out the Texas state flag and asked my buddy if they always do that for out of state teams? He said he didnt know (first game to attend this year despite being a season ticket holder)

I was there as well. Cold. wet. no fans for them. no passes up the middle. better than I thought, but their fans not there.

Sam was obviously still hurting today. Over throwing consistently means you can't follow through with the ball. I so hope he is 100% by next week!
The prudent course of action would have been to sit him instead of risking further injury. It was not a situation where there was a lack of a competent back-up...unless going 10 for 10 off the bench is now a sign of incompetence according to The Binder. It was clear that Sam was having problems and, the fact that he had to think about his answer to the post-game questions says the shoulder wasn't good to go...

Typical, tired old anti-Herman comments. What, no Tommy Boy or Coach Mensa barbs from you today? The prudent course of action was to win the damn game. Mission accomplished! In season two, currently at 9-3 and earning the right to compete in the Conference Championship Game, I hope Coach Herman continues to trust his gut and reference The Binder to his heart's content.

I dearly hope that's the case, otherwise we are in big trouble 8 days hence.
It was cold and wet and windy on the north end zone and still in the south. Kansas is a solid team and number 1 is the real deal. Guys got wheels. They scored 40 on blow u. They are ballers w no fans and yesterday was their coaches last game.

YAWN!

Going to OU or WVU in a CCG with a wounded duck of an arm/shoulder is NOT a good idea. Texas NEEDS Sam to be 100%. Texas has shown that they don't perform well in shootouts, even when the opposing D sucks. There is absolutely nothing that suggests Shane could not have guided the offense to a win against Kansas, with would have afforded Sam the extra ten days to focus on trying to use as many reparative techniques in the trainer's room as possible. I had no reason to believe that the sieve of a defense would give up 40 to Rock Chalk the way the land thieves did the week before but I am appalled at the lack of O against a D that gave up 50+ to the same team that just hung close to 60 against WVU...

And, quite honestly, the way some trash Shane around here, I can ONLY imagine how bad next week on Hornfans would have been had there been more permanent damage done to Sam's wing. This does not even begin to touch on the comments of some in the game thread as the game was going on where it was opined that Sam showed signs consistent with having been concussed...

So again, the PRUDENT thing is rest your supposed stud QB in a game where you don't need a INT-free performance and you don't need 50 yards of rushing from your QB.

I wanted the win for reasons of financial gain...nine wins got me paid. But I would have been paid with Shane starting (and finishing). But in listening to Sam's comments when the mic was stuck in front of him in the parking lot, I cannot put anything on the game next week. He all but admitted the shoulder is now WORSE for having played...and THAT is not something that comes from coaches looking out for the health of their squad.

Wow, for someone so sleepy, you sure write a lot. Do you have any actual facts to share, or just more contrived speculation, negative comments about Coach Herman and opining for Shane to play? Congratulations on your wagering success. You should send Coach Herman a personal thank you note.

Was not sleepy- it was a case of being bored with your tripe.

Peculiar that you ignore the reality of Sam's post-game comment...he WON'T be 100% for the CCG and WOULD have been a lot closer to it had be been rested.
