horns vs bama 2023 thread

I prefer my Crow fried.. Hook ‘em! Giant win. This board and all the Exes deserve this one.

Congratulations to the players and the coaches. Missed some plays, but fought through and closed the deal. Special praise for Ewers who was very accurate passes.

Defensive line gets pressure with 3 or 4.

OLine gives QB time.

Ewers is calm and steady and hits some deep balls.

Clock management.

Special teams.

All those things didn't happen last year. This team is solid. Keep grinding!!

Most impactful road win since 1998 at Nebraska. I thought of 2005 Ohio State, but we already knew that Texas team was a contender and a lot of people thought we could win that one. Either way it was supposed to be close. 1998 and 2023 both had a lot of players who'd been through losing seasons and nobody was expecting them to win against a recent powerhouse with multiple recent national titles, with a lot of people predicting a blowout.
This is similar to 45-35 over the dirt burglars in 2008. Our goals have changed.

After Alabama led Texas 16-13 with 14 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, Texas outscored Alabama 21-8 to defeat Alabama 34-24 on the road. As a result, Texas snapped Alabama's 21-game home winning streak, and Alabama lost a home game for the first time since a 46-41 loss to LSU on 11/09/2019. I noticed several other trends:

1. Texas snapped Alabama's 57-game winning streak in nonconference games, and Alabama lost a nonconference game for the first time since a 21-14 loss to Louisiana Monroe on 11/17/2007.

2. Texas defeated an AP-Top 3 team for the first time since a 45-35 win over then No. 1 Oklahoma on 10/11/2008 and defeated an AP-Top 3 team on the road for the first time since a 15-14 win at the No. 2 Arkansas on 12/6/1969.

3. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian becomes the 3rd former assistant to defeat Nick Saban, joining Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher and Georgia head coach Kriby Smart.

4. Alabama lost by double digits at home for the first time under Nick Saban.

Why would anyone think we are a lock to lose to Michigan? Lotta football but Ewers played like he was he was Doc Holiday in Tombstone. Guy was aces. Team was Aces, Worthy, wow, Brooks wow. D played like a team.
love that referrence to doc holliday in tombstone! one of my favorite roles

Now it is time to play to a championship standard, do not play down to the level of your competition.

HUGE WIN, inhale it, savor it, enjoy it. Not many teams go into Bryant-Denny stadium in recent times and largely dominate and walk out with an impressive 10 point win!!!

Congrats to coach K. This was a very well prepared defense

Sark totally outcoached the Alabama DC. Again.

We had quite a few breaks go our way for a change. Good teams take advantage, and our guys did.

Hoping this is the norm, not a repeat of the past 2 years

ok, Sark was aggressive...thats nice. But i am glad we overcame his mistake by not not punting. Then bama scores a quick td.
so he's got to be smarter than that.
But we came back like gangbusters. kudos to all the players and coaches.
