Unranked KSU (14-5; 4-4) hosts #6/6 Texas (19-1; 8-1) Saturday night. KSU started Big 12 play with four losses in a row. Since then, the Wildcats have won four straight to run their record to 4-4. Texas has won three in a row. This will be the first of two games KSU and Texas will play. Texas leads the series 16-14 with the teams having split last season’s games with each winning on their home court. Horns will be looking to make it two wins in a row over KSU. On Friday, Nicole Ohlde and Kendra Wecker were inducted into the K-State Athletics Hall of Fame along with eight other individuals. Saturday will mark the continuation of KSU’s WBB Reunion Weekend. Ohlde and Wecker will be honored for their induction into the K-State Athletics Hall of Fame at the Saturday game as KSU will also recognize the alumni attending the game.

KSU has two players averaging double figures in ppg going into the Texas game. Breanna Lewis (# 22, 6-5 Jr. C) averages 16.5 ppg (3rd in conference games). Kindred Wesemann (# 24, 5-6 Jr. G) averages 11.5 ppg. Megan Deines (# 15, 6-1 Sr. G) contributes 9.5 ppg. Lewis is the Wildcat with the most FG attempts (56-107; 52.3%). Wesemann (27-75; 36.0%) and Deines (25-69; 36.2%) are the other top shooters for the Wildcats. Lewis (52.3%) and Jessica Sheble (# 0, 6-3 Jr. F) at 63.6% (7-11) are the only players to be hitting over 40% of their shots. Wesemann is the top 3pt shooter for KSU, hitting 18 of 49 for 36.7%. Kaylee Page (# 1, 6-2 Soph. F) is second with 10 of 36 (27.8%). The third main threat from BTA is Deines at 8-31 (25.8%). KSU has taken the fourth most 3pters in conference play but is making only 30.1% from BTA (7th in the league). Lewis (20-39; 51.3%) is tops on the team in getting to the FT line. Wesemann (20-26; 76.9%) leads the team in FT% for players that have at least ten FT attempts.

Lewis leads with 8.4 rpg. Shaelyn Martin (#50, 6-0 Soph. G/F) adds 7.0 rpg. Page is third with an average of 4.4 rpg. Wesemann (27 assists) and Martin (22 assists) are the leading passers for KSU. Lewis is second in the league with 23 blocks. Page is second on the team with six blocks. KSU is second in the league in steals with 75. Four players have double digit steals: Deines (16), Wesemann (15), Martin (12) and Lewis (11).

Seven Wildcats have seen action in all eight league games that KSU has played. Five have averaged double digit minutes. Lewis, Wesemann, Martin and Page have started all eight games. Deines has six starts out of the eight games, including the last four, all KSU wins. Brianna Craig (# 20, 5-10 Sr. G) averages 13.7 mpg while Kayla Goth (# 10, 6-1 Fr. G) is at 16.3 mpg. Both have seen action in six of eight Big 12 games. KSU’s starters all average at least 28.0 mpg: Lewis (29.4 mpg), Wesemann (35.9 mpg), Deines (28.0 mpg), Martin (29.6 mpg) and Page (29.8 mpg). Those five will see the most action of the 12 that have gotten into at least one Big 12 game.

Imani is the leading scorer for Texas at 16.1 ppg. Brooke is averaging an even 10.0 ppg. Ariel is third at 9.4 ppg while Empress is next at 8.9 ppg. Imani should hit triple digit FG attempts in this game. Currently, she is 56-94 for 59.6%. Empress (26-74; 35.1%) and Brooke (32-71; 45.1%) are the only other two that have reached 70+ FG attempts. Imani (59.6%), Ariel (28-48; 58.3%), Kelsey (27-47; 57.4%) and Tasia (8-15; 53.3%) help make Texas the league’s best in FG% at 44.9%. Five Horns have reached double digit 3pt attempts. As a team, Texas is second in 3pt FG% at 38.1%. Quite a change from last season when Texas ended up 8th in conference games with a 3pt % of 30.8%. The leaders for the Horns are: Brooke (20-46; 43.5%), Ariel (8-18; 44.4%), Empress (9-23; 39.10%), Celina (8-23; 34.8%) and Brady (4-10; 40.0%). Horns are third in the league in FT% at 70.2%. The top three FT shooters are Imani (32-38; 82.1%), Ariel (21-26; 80.8%) and Empress (19-25; 76.0%). They are also the leaders in FTs made and attempted.

Imani remains one of two players averaging a double double in league play with her 12.1 rpg to go with her 16.1 ppg. Three others average over four rpg: Celina (4.7 rpg), Brianna (4.4 rpg) and Kelsey (4.1 rpg). Celina is fourth in the league with her team high of 4.8 apg. Brooke and Empress add 2.3 and 2.2 apg, respectively. Brianna (19 steals) and Celina (11 steals) lead the team in this category. Imani leads the team and the Big 12 with 43 blocks. Kelsey needs one more block to reach double digits.

All five starters average over 20 mpg, with Brooke (28.1 mpg) and Celina (27.1 mpg) logging the most minutes. Imani, Empress and Brianna are the other starters. Kelsey, with two starts, averages 19.7 mpg and Ariel checks in at 18.1 mpg. LaShann, Jordan and Brady join Kelsey and Ariel in averaging in the teens. Tasia, Sara and Olamide have seen action in at least five games.

Texas______________KSU
Imani (6-7)________ Lewis (6-5)
Brianna (5-9)______ K. Page (6-2)
Empress (5-9)_____ Deines (6-1)
Celina (5-8)_______ Wesemann (5-6)
Brooke (5-4)______ Martin (6-0)

KSU basically will use a five player rotation for about 30 minutes a game. Texas will counter with a nine to ten player rotation. Lewis is tall enough and athletic enough to give Imani problems. The problem for KSU is that Shelbe, the next tallest player that has seen action in Big 12 games, has only seen an average of 6.1 mpg. Cheyenne Hopper, a 6-6 frosh, has yet to get into a game this season. Kelsey gives Texas an experienced and talented player to rotate with Imani against Lewis. KSU depends on the three quite a bit. Wesemann is their main shooter and will be the one that Texas will focus on although the Wildcats have others that can heat up from BTA. Page could be a secondary focus on offense for KSU as she will enjoy a significant height advantage on Brianna. However, Bri has shown that she is quite capable of compensating for her height disadvantage as she has had to deal with that almost every game. KSU will look to stop Brooke from BTA although Texas also has others that can make the three. KSU’s main group of five players will be challenged by the waves of Texas players they will face throughout the game.

This will be a game of tempo. KSU will slow the game down to reduce the edge the Horns have the number of players they will use compared to KSU. Texas will run as often as possible. Both teams have solid inside games in Lewis/Page and Imani/Kelsey. Texas seems to have a better midrange game. KSU is heavily dependent on the 3pter with almost half of their FG attempts coming from BTA. Texas is making almost as many 3s as KSU with five less attempts. Texas should dominate the boards although Lewis will certainly challenge Texas for rebounds. One edge that KSU has is in steals. But Texas will pressure and KSU will have to handle that pressure without TOs to prevent the Horns from creating easy points.

With this game being KSU’s alumni night and Ohlde and Wecker being honored for their admission the KSU Hall of Fame, there should be a pretty big crowd on hand for the game.

Game time is 7 PM. The game will be carried on ESPN3/WatchESPN. The game will be on the radio at 104.9 FM The Horn.

This game could be the only real "trap game" left on UT's schedule.
Winning at Bramlage is hard for us to do....and this K.State team is bigger and more physical than most. In fact, I look for this game to be much harder for us than the upcoming "Hilton Magic" game.

They have to limit turnovers and make perimeter jump shots which is basically the key for this team with every game. The coach for K State is known for running a very effective 3-2 zone, so they'll probably play a lot of it. This will be the toughest road game of the year outside of baylor and ou in my opinion.

Any last minute channel info? I know it's on ESPN3, which I think I can't get since I'm with Time Warner. I'll check back closer to game time to see if it magically appears on TWC77 (Austin)

Haven't seen anything listed. TWC77 will be showing a men's game at 8pm so that is dicey. If you have TWC, you should be able to watch on ESPN3/WatchESPN.

What's really strange is that there is no replay shown either today or Sunday on the LHN. Usually the LHN will show a replay if the game is on an ESPN channel.

Just FYI, if you have an Amazon Fire Stick or Fire TV attached to your TV, you can watch WatchESPN and the game on that. I watched a game on it before. It's sometimes a little jittery but that's better than just the radio call. It shows a 5:00 pm start. Not sure why.

There is no way we should be trailing to KSU!!! What the hec are we doing out there! Bad shot selection and no patience on offense.

Coach needs to get in the refs face and demand they call at least a couple of fouls on K-S because they are certainly making them.

When did we start playing Tasia before Higgs? What is the staff thinking about?

Also, the officiating is horrible tonight. There is no flow to the game because of all the fouls.
