Horns #6 seed in Softball

Meghan Lamberth is supposed to be NU's pitching ace but Amy Letourneau has started or pitched the most in the regional. Both Amy and Blaire have pitched in three games with Amy throwing 335 pitches and Blaire 333. We could see those two going at it again in the last game.

Every commentator on the softball games being televised seems to expect Blaire to start this last game. But we got a pretty good pitcher in Rachel Fox who could either start or come in on relief.

Meghan pitched well today against Texas and I expected she will start for the last game; but yesterday she didn't last long against Cougar High.

Puzzling decision. Fox is more than capable to pitch this game.

WOW! Luna pitched two shutouts and 14 consecutive innings with 29 K's vs. just 2 walks. So much for our ace struggling....great win, Horns!!!

I was out there and it was sweltering. Huge props to Luna for an incredible performance - her finest as a Longhorn (so far). Great job all around.

Hats off to Luna, that was one helluva performance this weekend!!! By far her best performance this year!!

Let's go and Beat the Ducks!!!!

I hope we have a quick start against them this weekend!!!

Great job by the ladies. I realize that softball is very different from baseball, but can you imagine the heat Augie would be getting if one of his pitchers threw 14 innings? Remember the 26 inning game?

Re: Puzzling decision. Fox is more than capable to pitch this game.

Nothing personal, but this is exactly why coaches are paid to coach, and fans are left to hope that hindsight doesn't kick them in the a** or b***s.

I agree Coaches know better than I, first one to admit that, the question begs, I just don't understand the determination of who starts against who? It all worked out, but Bruins in game 1 against the Aggies is the head scratcher for me....

Anyway, on to Beat the Ducks!!!!!

Assuming that Luna's forearm recovers, she starts in Game 1 against the Ducks?

jackden that is what I think happened to Cat at the championship games. She didn't have run support and had to pitch a lot of innings some OT. That is why I think we got beat by teams that even though they had talented pitchers they were not on Cat's level. A wasted opportunity we had to have not had one NC.

one thing I noticed was that Luna was able to get plenty of down time between innings most of the time as her teammates kept rallies going and extended the time they spend hitting. Luna didn't have to go right back out very often.

I think we are going to ride Luna as far as she can go and have Fox as backup. Of course, as mentioned above, I don't get paid to make those decisions.

If Kat had had the kind of run support this team provides, I have no doubt that she would have led us to a championship or two.

Watching the Alabama and Michigan game last night, man we are in way over our head if we make it past Oregon. Both of those pitchers last night, especially the Alabama one were scary good!!
