Herman Needs to Go

I'm for firing Herman if we can get an Urban Meyer caliber guy. If it's just going to be another "rising star", like say a Matt Campbell, well, we did that last time. Red McCombs said when he was asked how he liked Tom Herman, "I like Dabo Swinney".

I'm just trying to say that we will have people point out how expensive a buyout of Herman and his staff will be. Yet, the cost of inaction is also high.
There was talk of dumping Charlie after year 2 but the counter-arguments included, the buyout is too high, Charlie is still using Mack's guys, wait till he gets his guys, we will look racist, he is just about to turn it around, yada, yada, yada. So we sat on our hands, wasted another season, oh, and lost to KU.

It’s time to move on. Even before the disconnect this year there was a lack of execution that points to coaching- Xs and Os.
 
There needs to be a search with multiple viable candidates. I never liked the way Tom Herman was anointed. It’s like we were desperate. Well haha maybe we were, but let’s try not to act like it this time around.

Yup! If anyone remembers, Gary Barnett was going to be our coach hiring him away from Colorado after Mackovic was fired. Somehow that was leaked and after the ensuing uproar a committee was formed then Mack Brown was hired instead.

Barnett would have been a nightmare and we dodged a giant bullet with that one. He ended his career with a stellar 92-94-2 record and if I remember correctly was investigated for some type of shenanigans.

We need a committee and an all out nationwide search. No "hot or trendy coaches" should be considered without being vetted.

I wanted it to be true so bad and convinced myself that Herman would be the guy - it was wishful thinking
 
I hate being in this predicament. I had completely the opposite expectations this season. I expected, at worse, to have a one loss season. I expected our defense to do better.
It doesn't seem like we gang tackle very much, the onus being on one player and when he whiffs the opposition gains another five yards. Alright, it's probably not that bad. It doesn't seem like we are getting enough pressure on the QB, but I think the opposition is throwing the quick-release passes so we should be playing bump and run with our dbs in my estimation. Make them throw the perfect pass. Our offense is doing well but when we make one mistake we fall behind cause our defense sucks.
I remember a defensive lineman from another team who was always disrupting the opponents backfield say one time, "the objective is to get the ball carrier, I don't fool around much with the guy blocking me, I shed him as quickly as possible and make a beeline to the guy with the ball." I probably paraphrased a little. But sometimes I think that our guys are taught that we must take the time to outmuscle the guy that's blocking them, while the ball carrier is gaining yards. Keep the blocker off of you keeping your eyes on the ball and go for the ball carrier. Sorry, I got into coaching a little bit. I'm just disappointed in our defense.:facepalm:
 
Maybe the real problem is our LBs. We are so average at that position. I think the kid from california with the neck injury would have been a real difference maker. Just bad luck.

I agree with this what that video doesn’t show is what the Mizzou players were saying in a press conference with longhorn players on the same stage. TH and the Texas players showed class while Mizzou was completely disrespectful to Texas and Drew Lock was saying he “couldn’t wait to face the UT defensive backs.”
I hate taunting but I actually loved TH securing the bag. Screw Mizzou

Yep. TH deserves boat loads of criticism, but I never got the outrage about that one.
 
We’re now left with 2 road games to Kansas to play KSU and Kansas to close out the season. Not ready to put a potential check mark in win column for either game at this point. Still hoping for a 7-3 finish.
